Panel sealant

Hi all. Do any of you knowledgeable people know the name of the sealant that is used to seal between panels. It cures like toffee or chewing gum with a very similar consistency. I have been to lots of motor factors and they all keep offering me tiger seal or tech 7 as well as silicone based sealants which is not what I'm looking for.....Anyone help?

Works well and is very reasonably priced, if you can get it postage free.

Thank you Nodge68....at least I have something to go off now. Do you know if that is available in a tube to be used in a sealing gun?

Some makes of seam sealer do come in tubes. I prefer a brushable sealer though, as it's faster to apply and less likely to leave voids between the panels. It can also be brushed on to seal external seams, which is a messy operation if a tube is used. Tubes generally cost more per gram of product too.

Okay....I will consider that helpful information. Brushable would appear to be the better option. Does it take primer and paint well?

As long is it's acrylic based, then yes. Avoid anything silicone based, as it doesn't overpaint.

I used seam sealer as above on my roof and its sorted the leaks right out. Bit messy. Silcone would do just as good a job but as mentioned doesn't overpait

Brushable Seam Sealer, and get the proper brush for applying it. It has shorter stiffer bristles than an ordinary paint brush.

It's been used in this exact way in the car manufacturing industry for decades.
