Yeah, did that a while ago, but will do it again once I have finished this.

I'll start a new thread for the rear crossmember when I have planned how I am going to do it.

One last sand back and primer tomorrow and then I am on to the top coat.

Has been a good learning activity actually and makes me less scared of bodywork. Would probably attempt a full respray now, but I need a lot more equipment for that.
 
Well that is crap...my windscreen brackets have come and don't seem to match each other at all! hopefully you can see in the pic, one is full of holes.

You would have thought Britpart could have at least got that right...

What do people reckon, keep them and use as they are, keep and paint, or take back?

I would keep them, it is just that they cost £60...

If you spray any big areas it might be worth picking up some Tac-Cloths too. They pick up all those annoying particles that leave nibs in your paint. I always use them now.

I think I would spray primer-filler on that bracket and rub back flat.

Reckon its cause they are solid Ali.

Gonna take them back to paddocks in person I think so I can get my point across. I was hoping I could keep them black so wouldn't have to paint but they are noticeably different and I'm worried the one with holes in will absorb water

Ok, latest update. Decided I was spamming people with pictures, so toned them back a bit.

I took the brackets back and have some ones without holes in now, although have a few chips. Bloody britpart.

So this weekend I finished painting the rear light surround. Sadly it didn't look quite as good out of the garage as in, but it will be fine when the light is back in (I know I got paint on the plate, will get some new ones soon anyway).

I then started cleaning up where both of the windscreen brackets had been, the drivers side one was pretty bad.

So I have taken the windscreen out, wire brushed the corrosion off and primered:

Unfortunately when I got the window out it has started going opaque at the bottom, so I will have to get a new one.

Wish the weather was better, would have it back on the road by now.

Got a new aftermarket screen from Rimmer bros, so will see what that is like. Hope it isn't britpart
 
Latest instalment, if anyone wants to see it.

Frame has been painted and lacquered:

And then windscreen brackets have been put on. Think they look ok black, which is good.

I did muck it up slightly, as I didn't want to put the brackets on yet as the lacquer isn't properly dry, but I put tigerseal under the frame (which I got EVERYWHERE) and thought I could ratchet strap it down, but it only tightened down one side (even with 2 straps), so I ended up having to put the brackets on.

Next job is the windscreen, but that will have to wait until I am back from holiday...
 
Yeah, only some surface rust on the inside, other than that it is good.

Nothing under the seal, until I undid the bracket the seal was pretty well stuck to the top and bottom, so I guess it was watertight.

Some water had come in through the bracket though, so I might take them back off at some point and put some tiger seal in.

be careful, that stuff can be a right bugger to remove again.

Yeah, it is still all over my hands!

But good point, might leave it and see how it goes.

does anyone have a photo of what way round the windscreen seal should go? Have found a few guides but none are close enough to tell and I cant work it out!
