It cut out on me approaching a roundabout the other day. Id completely forgotten about it. Approaching a roundabout the engine stopped running altogether, "GEARBOX FAULT" on the dash but i managed to coast into a layby. As soon as turned the key it fired up again and hasn't done it again since.

Do you think they're related?

Anyone know anyone in the midlands who ll let me plug it in to a Nanocom?
Gearbox Fault is typical of low battery voltage

The forum is probably lashed together with old BMW timing chains.......... thats why the posts are going "funny".

No, my IP has not been rebuilt Mr Grrr. Might be worth going the whole hog and freshening it up while ive got the thing dismantled.
While were on the subject, do you fancy earning yourself another bottle of Rioja and loaning me your timing kit again, please?

That's the one I saw,my reply went missing as well.;)something funny going on with the posts,
Happened to me few times. Make a post but when you return is like it never happened.

You could do the chains and see if FIP starts to behave with static then set. Can be changed again later without messing around too much and would cost more than the new chains. FIPs are normally good for 180,000m unless you run witches brew long term or have a powerbox fitted.

You could set the static now if you have the tools and an afternoon, but clattering means you are probably on the verge of jumping a cog, static set or not.
Diagnostics could help but a QS issue won’t leave a code anyhow, itl just cut out and have a barmy now and again, then later start up and drive fine

Sure. Booze is always welcome. :)

Thinking about it, if you can get it down here we could plug the Nanocom in too.
