Hello

I have just brought a 1998 Range rover P38 4.0

the battery went flat due to the passenger door not locking on the central locking and someone opening it setting the alarm off.

so when I got back the car had a flat battery so I charged it up and put it back in the car, all the normal messages come set windows ect .... but when I turned the key nothing happened just a click from under the seat and maybe the fuse box, the other thing I noticed is the check engine light doesn't come on anymore as before it did, so I called the AA out hoping they come help but they couldn't get it started either, but they did give me the fault code which was p1622

now I have been reading a lot of threads and from the problems im having the conclusion would be the besm and ecm are out of sync ?

could anyone help me with this ? or point me in the right direction ?
and am I even on the right track or could it be more simple than that ?

Thank you.

I think you have your diagnosis right. Put your location and there may be someone nearby who can help, or buy yourself a Nanocom so you are prepared for the next time.:welcome2:

Thank you for the quick reply I live in the south of England town called Poole so if there is someone near by with a Nanocom that would be great, but if not where would I purchase a Nanocom ?

I'm fairly local but I think your car is a Gems engine. My Nanocom is set up for diesels and thor engines. I fear you won't get it running again without plugging it in.

once again thank you for your reply I will look in the Nanocom and let you know how I got on, I may also look to see if there any software I can get for my laptop to do the same thing.

BBS Nanocom evo, hawkeye or LR testbook. Thats about it. If you've serious about keeping and working on a P38

A lot comes down to preference. I say the nano is very good, some say hawkeye. Lynx is becoming popular.
