I've had SRS/Airbag warnings for the last week, tried to sort it myself but had to take it to the garage today. The bloke diagnosed the fault and said I need to replace the complete passenger airbag - part no emh 101440 lnf and the airbag has to be from a 99+ P38. Looking on ebay all airbags that I can see say will fit all models 94-02 so is there a difference and what exactly should I be ordering as I'm confused? Thanks.

Your garage is likely bull****ting you, airbags rarely if ever fail. More likely to be a connector problem. If yours is 99MY on, I would expect it to have side airbags in the seats, the connectors on these often give rise to problems as does the rotary coupler behind the steering wheel. Of course I could be wrong.

Yep, sorry forgot to say its a 2001 4.6 Vogue - the wife was hurrying me up to hand the computer over to her so posted in a rush

Thanks, will have a play at the weekend and check the connectors. I assume I'll have to dig out the eka code after disconnecting the battery

No need, the EKA code is usually only required if the battery goes flat/disconnected with the doors locked and the alarm/immobiliser set.

BUT - have it on hand in anycase, it is afterall a Range Rover..!!!

Hi there,

if you try Datateks suggestion disconnect your battery first and wait 15 mins before unplugging or you may get a surprise!!

You are technically correct, however the side airbags frequently have connector problems and have never been reported as going off, many have unplugged and re-plugged the connectors without problems. The SRS ECU needs a signal to trigger a firing pulse, unplugging merely alerts it to an open circuit. Even that is not active with the ignition off.

However, you play with the SRS system at your own risk.
