P38 on springs- Poor ride quality!

Honestly I've never looked into it, but I assume a standard sized LR springs fit. If so, maybe see if you can blag or buy some used ones, maybe off a Disco or something. You really want to get hold of some standard OEM springs. Then it's just a matter of swapping them in and seeing if they improve things.

I'd have thought if you contact someone breaking a Disco, they might let you have all 4 springs for £30 or so.


Another thing to look at are wheels. 18" rims can make the ride less supple compared to 16" rims. Also worth checking tyre pressures too.

That said, my p38a runs on 18's, but it is on air. It rides sublimely.

Exactly where are you going to get OEM coil springs for a P38?
 
just get the air bags on the thing.

Anything else is just a bodge.

Im on 19" rims and its the most comfortable car we own. Also the EAS system has been very reliable. Theres nothing with the system as others have said "if you look after it". I wouldnt bother with the manual air inflation adaptors. Personally if its bad enough that the EAS is kaput, just call the AA or drive it home on the bumps stops. It will never leave you stranded.

Don't know what you are driving but only 16" and 18" for the P38.;)

Very boaty unstable jelly like ride, lots of body roll it's so bad that if you have 2 rear passengers the will be banging heads across the middle seat driving round corners even on A roads.

There is one small pothole on the slow lane of the A303 on my way home that I rode over once at 70 and thought it was going to roll over! Same place speed in my classic hardly noticed it. Something is seriously not right, every passenger that's been in it comments on it.

I have 18" wheels, and replaced the shocks a few months ago.

Just wondered if anyone could vouch for the bearmach springs?
 
Stop this stupid chat about springs and but the damn EAS system back in to play. It's a ballache when you first start fiddling but once you've annoyed the crap out of people on here and fiddled with it it's really simple and very easy to work on.

Anyway looks like eas is the way to go it's just I can do with out being stranded 100's of miles from home. I'm gonna bite the bullet and order the bags. Prepare for more annoying posts ;)

If you do it right you wont be stranded. Have a look at my previous posts (early this year) on being stranded with the EAS... it was because I didn't sort things correctly. As long as you have the schrader valves in the glove box you wont be stranded..but they shouldn't be needed if you've sorted it correctly in the first place. Learn from my mistake.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
