Sooooo, lets pretend that someone on here doesn't know what a XZY selector thingy is on the side of the transmission, and lets also pretend that that someones N was showing but still no low ratio......, and just for good measure, let's also pretend that.... oh I don't know.... an orange light that looks like two gears with a line through them flashes up on the dash.................. Would it still be the XZY thingy? And if so, what is an XZY thingy?Had this issue on mine, clue was the N wasn't lighting up, fix was the xzy sector thingy on the side of the transmission.
Doesn't really matter to you as yours is a manualSooooo, lets pretend that someone on here doesn't know what a XZY selector thingy is on the side of the transmission, and lets also pretend that that someones N was showing but still no low ratio......, and just for good measure, let's also pretend that.... oh I don't know.... an orange light that looks like two gears with a line through them flashes up on the dash.................. Errrmmm, yes, but I may have accidentally bought another one.... or two actually, both diesels and automatics......Doesn't really matter to you as yours is a manual
All the XYZ switch does is tell the ECU what gear you've selected as the shifter is moved the cable moves the switch and various contacts make or break, telling the ecu what the driver has selected.Errrmmm, yes, but I may have accidentally bought another one.... or two actually, both diesels and automatics......

It is Brian. Is this to make one good one out of three
Sorry Oakey only just seen your reply. Yes, drives fine in Hi, gear change is a little sluggish but it's been sat for a couple of years I think, will service the box and change filters as a matter of course.I meant can it be driven normally?
There is not a fuse in I think position 11?
if you mean this ,it's the hi,low range selector.so I'd try changing it. While it's off try moving the triangular shaft to make sure it's not seized.Sorry Oakey only just seen your reply. Spent a little time on her today and managed to sort the ABS problem (Thanks again Brianp38 and all who helped), ran the selector up and down in Hi and Low with no effect. The beeping and dash light flashing starts as soon as the gear-lever reaches the centre of the selector on it's way over to Low, had a poke around underneath, pulled connectors, cleaned and plugged back in but still the same, can't see anything obviously wrong. There is a cylindrical electrical do dah on the side of the transfer box (I know you know what I mean....) I'm wondering what this is and if it's worth swapping it out from my spares car?
Return the triangular shaft back to its original position on reassembly.if you mean this ,it's the hi,low range selector.so I'd try changing it. While it's off try moving the triangular shaft to make sure it's not seized.
Will have to check but yes I think so Kermit. Are you seeing D in the dash display? If not then it could be limping in 3rd, hence feeling sluggish
That's the do dah, yes. I did wonder. Great, will swap out the spare and report back..if you mean this ,it's the hi,low range selector.so I'd try changing it. While it's off try moving the triangular shaft to make sure it's not seized.
That's way above me GrrrrrrIn RAVE it has the expected voltages on the connector.
How did you get on with the issue Mudmenance?Quick up date neutral switch has already being bypassed got the motor out that seems OK but getting my friends who a auto electrician to double check before I bolt it in and also going to the ecu so will know tomoz I'm very temped just to by pass the ecu and have auto electrician run a whole new circuit to the motor I'm building the truck for mainly offroad and weekend expeditions but want to fix everything first but this low ration is really bigging me now lol forgot what a joy land rovers where
