P38 I want to run on 7 cylinders

I think it'd work. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? Sure the engine might feel a bit lumpy having 4 cylinders firing on one bank and 3 on the other, but that's a small price to pay.

Now just to clarify, were you going to leave the piston in the cylinder pumping up and down, or remove that as well? Of course, if you remove it then it'll unbalance the engine, but keeping it could cause undue wear, which must be a massive concern for you

I reckon the best bet is probably to get the piston up near the top of the cylinder (doesn't have to be exact), then get some of that expanding foam builders have to plug the gap to keep the noise down. I reckon a small ventilation hole will be required too, unless you remove the exhaust valve on that cylinder to let the air escape? Yep, that'll definitely do it...

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

P.S. If your brakes ever squeak, I've heard WD40 will help, stops squeaks nice and quickly....

One of the energy saving ideas put forward by some clever bugger was engines dropping cylinders when cruising and full power was not needed, a couple of marques experimented with the idea but I don't think it proved economic. You would have to cut the petrol to that cylinder as well as the gas.

you better hit the retract button on that one pal! there are enough of us here to be offended.

and just to clarify to all BRITISH PEOPLE. its not northern Ireland and Southern Ireland. its simple Northern Ireland and Ireland simple as that or Rep of Ireland if you must. very annoying when i call the UK pricing parts etc and they say "is that going to northern Ireland or Southern Ireland?"

Have you ever seen "Southern Ireland" written on a map?

He might have meant Dingle bay is that not the south of Ireland? Know what you mean though mate must be a ball ache. Bit like filling a form in over here. You can be Scottish, Welsh or British. You can't be English.
