P38 - How to remove gearbox side trim panel

Have searched the Forums for this but nothing found.
Question is: how to remove the interior plastic trim panel on the passenger side of the gearbox.
There are two obvious pozi screws, and the manual says remove them then pull upwards to release the panel from the clip(s).
But that doesn't work for me, and I don't like forcing things and risk hearing that splintering crack as another plastic panel bites the dust.
Any advice, as ever, very gratefully received...

Undo the two screws on the window switch pack (inside cubby box). Then gently lever the rear of the trim panel with flat screwdriver, and slide the front part down to release it.
 
Theres a video on you tube. Removing center consul or something like that showing how its done Will try and find the link

I was gonna post link to that video, but the guy just shows switch pack removal, and mentions sliding panels out but doesn't show it !!

You can get the screws out so the panel sort of flaps about and then if I recall correctly you sort of pivot it up a little at the back and push down at the front and it pops out like a ball out of a socket. Think that's the right way round. Not done it in ages and memory is a bit hazy.
