Neil Tyseley may be the closest to you, but your Becm is on it's way to me as I type this.
He should receive it back by the end of the week.
Diagnotics isn't evn touching it, & Tysely 4x4 use the same software as nanacom.

Well, I guess he did you the favour of removing the 4 seat bolts and screws and then posting it to Rick. At least you know if it is the BECM it'll be fixed properly.

I am told that a "micro-switch" in the BECM which controls the alarm system needs to be replaced.

I know what Rick would've cost me for a BECM flash so the rest is the charge for "removing the 4 seat bolts and screws and then posting it to Rick" and hence not exactly a favour from where I see it

Not sure I am trusting this micro-switch story, but I need the car back working so agreed to pay that.

I suspect it is a microswitch in the lock actuator rather than the BECM but I am sure Rick will correct me.

There aren't any microswitches in the BECM - more than likely the BECM has gone into alarm lockout (which Rick will sort out for you!) and the microswitch that's faulty is in the door latch as Grrrrrrr says.

Don't forget that they will put the 4 seat bolts and trim back in aswell for your money

Thanks! Been back almost a month, but had a busy time looking at things for other people, swapping the engine in my RR, and then also having to head away for work (which has been good in a way as it's put some decent run-in miles on the new engine!)

Got the rest of this week at home and back to 'normal' work next week!

Tyseley 4x4 is a good chap. I've worked with him for years. God knows where this microswitch failure has come from. As Marty said, there's no microswitches in the becm.
It has been diagnosed as faulty & this generates as a lockout within the becm. The common problem, due to the age of these modules is leaky passives, or high /low resistence. All becm's suffer from this as time goes by.

All, thanks a lot for all the pointers and help here. Indeed much appreciated. The car is now back with me from Tyseley 4x4 with problem hopefully gone (Fully remembering its a P38 - so one can't be sure)

Will try and get it washed and post some pics too.
