Hi please can anyone help??
i have had a big problem with a overheated engine.(2.5 bmw)
My problems started with a split radiator which i have replaced. Then new water pump, thermostat, cap fitted and still overheating so i bought a new head at the cost of £570 used geniuine head gasket but guess what?
It is still presurising the engine and over heating. When running the water pipes goe hard and it starts to overheat. I have replaced the rad because i thought that was faulty as a few have suggested but no differance.
Could it be the block with a crack in it???
I have ran out of money and could really do with some ideas as to what it could be,
If it is the block can anyone help with one or a complete engine that i could do a deal with for my new head?
thanks in advance for any help
ian

think you answered your own question tbh chap, if you have done everything, cracked block is certainly on the cards

An air lock might explain the overheating, if the coolant's not flowing right, but air in the system would tend to hide the over pressuring, cause the air can compress where as water can't. Best to check it as a first step though, otherwise could be that new head/gasket haven't seated properly, or worst case cracked block. Don't forget that hoses will probably be harder than before as new pump=higher pressure. How hard are they, just quite stiff or bulging?

all sorted. took it all apart again and replaced head gasket with a landrover geniune part.and been running fine for over a month.
must have been a faulty gasket,
thanks for all the responces i got.
got there in the end.
