Just a quick update, put new accumulator on, went from 2 brake pedal pushs between pump runs to 6. Result. Just need to give it a dam good bleeding.

A good system and new accumulator should give around 10-15 full applications before it starts going soft, according to the research I did when I had my ABS issues.

OK cheers Clarky 15, I think the reason for 6 presses of the pedal could be old brake fluid in lines from the block to the calipers or the cut in pressure for the pump is too high and I have a naf switch. I need a helper who won't be available until the weekend to help me properly bleed the system. I am just happy I can stop and lights are out when they should be.

I will see what its like after a full bleed.

After doing all the changes since the failure, first thing in the morning the brake pedal would feel ok but would on the first press, click.

I am was guessing that this was air stuck in the system somewhere and had found its way to the valve block.

Stuck my little syphon pump syrindge thing in the reservoir and sucked the old brake fluid out, or as much as I could first, and filled with fresh.

I managed to access all the bleed points on the block and calipers this time. Quite a bit of air came out the front right caliper rest seemed ok.

Success a solid pedal, New brake fluid makes a difference. Old stuff was dark and horrible.
