Before breaking out all the tools have you made sure it really is shut??

You can sometimes manage to close the thing and only latch it on one of the catches. Open the bonnet up and give it another slam shut. Or, just push down on each side of the bonnet, just inside each headlight, you may hear a 'kerching' as the bonnet latches on the side that hasnt caught properly.

Good point .........make sure the right hand latching pin isn't screwed too far in! If it is it won't latch therefore no signal from microswitch....note that the left hand latch does not have a microswitch!!

i had this recently, the catch wasnt locking into place when bonnet closed, i just greased it up and moved it about several times and all is fine...

In my DSE the micro switch had come away from its mounting. Land Rover in all their wisdom fitted it on the side where you have to take the radiator out to get at it! Dealer wanted £150 to fix it. I managed to pull the switch out far enough to put a (timber) clothes peg on the switch. Laugh all you want but it works and I have my trip computer back.
Now all I have to do is find out why my battery is losing charge over a few day! The joys of RR ownership.
