P38 alarm and immobilizer problems

Best to have the battery connected for the brakes and suspension to work and the key in position 2 to unlock the steering. Good luck getting it fixed at an LR garage, I suspect it will cost you more then a Nanocom and still not be fixed.
 
Also, any idea how long it might take for the Nanocom to arrive in EU? We're in Romania, stranded without a car so I hope it would arrive soonish, if that would really fix the problem. Is it the Nanocom P38 diesel kit that I need?

Yeah from what we have gathered it does seem like Nanocom is the cheaper option in the long run. We have to tow it today because the car broke down in the city and we have to tow it back home, not the workshop yet...

No Idea about post to Romania but it comes from within the EU, Cyprus, about a week to the UK I think.
Yes the version for the P38 diesel. You can add other vehicle types later if you wish.

If you tow it out of the city, it's just possible things may change as RF interference from WiFi and other wireless devices can cause problems. Out of town try starting it again.
 
In case it helps, here's the Nanocom guide for EDC. There's a good explaination of how the immobilisation work on page-4.

If BECM is out of sync with EDC, then you need to read the value in tghe EDC ECU, and update the BECM with correct code !!

So the Nanocom arrived with the P38 EDC kit. I set it up as per orders, registered, got the password, entered the codes etc. I am able to access everything except the EDC section, which I need to resync the car. It says "function locked".

I re-entered the codes multiple times carefully, making sure each letter and number is correct and in the correct case. I did type the codes in the correct numbered boxes (07&08). I did save the codes and confirmed the save icon. I did restart Nanocom several times after entering codes. EDC is locked.
I did try entering the EKA through Nanocom in case the BECM was blocking me from accessing the EDC but then again it says "function locked" which seems to be an issue with the tool, not car.

Please tell me I am missing something obvious here...
 
If it doesn't sync, read the EMS code from the EDC menu, and make sure the BECM Immobilisation Code has the same value.

FYI, these are not real values, but screenshots from the Nanocom Emulator. Left pic is EDC, but BECM pic is GEMS !!

There's a How To in the Technical Section on here. It isn't like the v8.

Turn off EKA and passive immobilisation.

I think RF interference can cause it to lose sync although why it would is a mystery. Mine certainly did regularly until I fitted a generation 3 RF receiver.

Indeed! When the car started we looked at each other and said "damn, Datatek is always right". We got an offer by an electrician to disable the immobilizer for 250€ by sending him the ECU, turns out it was already disabled! So nothing could've fixed it except a Nanocom anyway.
