West wing I think
During my recent and ongoing corkscrewing gymnastics around the innermost bowels of my ratbag, I came across disconnected what looked like alarm bits. Directly beneath the fusebox.Judging from the colour since before my time 10 years ago. At one point in my history I had the horn blasting away only at the most of embarrasing times. I replaced the roller ring and it went away. I thought that was the sum total of the alarm system. Once, on a tow truck- yes, hard to believe I know, a P38 on a tow truck- the hazard lights were flashing away and the truck driver said you'll have to turn the ignition off as the alarm's going off. I'm now long enough in the tooth, thanks to the masked men, to know there's no such thing as prod it, poke it, suck it and see especially when it comes to anything attached to the BECM. How can I go about safely diagnosing what's awry here and restore it to original? Regards. P.

Might need to remind us of the year. Think there are different setups. It might have a separate klaxon unit on rechargeable batteries. If the rechargeable batteries start to fade sometimes they go off thinking someone is tampering. Usual fix is to unplug it!

2002, thor. It looks like that's what's happened. Can I get it back to original without running into trouble? (I can do that by just walking past it) Thanks for the prompt reply.

If it has a BBUS unit the battery must be disconnected in a certain manner or it will go off for forty minutes and it makes a bloody din. Should be stoppable by pressing fob. Slacken negative terminal but do not remove. Turn ignition on and off. Remove negative terminal within 17 seconds. (Before alarm sets). No noisy din all is peace and quiet. Good to use for any P38 battery disconnect to avoid needing EKA code on reconnect. If battery has gone flat on car or failed in some way, it makes no matter how you disconnect it, you will more than likely have EKA problems.

How do you guys fancy an afternoon at the seaside. One of you could perform the bomb disposal and I'll take the other shooting. Failing that, I'll venture into the jaws of alarming alarms. Thankyou very much, again. P.
