My rangerover has been going fine untill last week when the automatic gearbox warning light came on ,and the day after the engine cut out whilst driving and now will not restart. the only thing that may be conected is that in all the snow some water has gone in center console area but I have dryed this all out . is there a safety set up that makes engine cut out if there is a
gearbox fault? just need some help before I start on it thanks for any help I receive

i have never heard of the gear box fault message stopping engine from running, can you tell us what exactly happens when you try to start?

sometimes the gb fault and others can appear when the battery goes or the leads are loose/bad connection

Hi there thanks for reply engine turns over really fast but doesnt start I will have a look later if there is spark or fuel

if your engine spins over fast it could be a snapped timming chain what you need to do is carry out a compression test first to see if its worth fixing also check gearbox oil levels and loom for and breakes

Don’t forget to try the inertia switch in the drivers kick panel. Push the button down on the top. Listen for click.
