Maybe that’s what’s meant by ‘who gives a Dickens?’
Good news, thanks for reporting the fix.Well arranged recovery this morning. Thought I’d give her a try and she fired up but cut out after 30 secs with a reappearance of the injector light. Same fault stored.
Decided to look at the fuel pump connector, turns out it had a tuning box fitted, and both connectors at pump and engine loom end were corroded.
Removed tuning box, cleaned up connectors and she fired straight up.
A well looked after diesel will give far less problems than a well looked after V8. Plus a neglected V8 will fail a lot sooner than a neglected diesel. So it's win, win for the diesel engine.
FixedYes but a V8 with a destroyed cam and tappets you can serve soup in will still make more noise than your derv
Don't live in the past Enery, ref. The first line of your post, not for long.Yes but a V8 with a destroyed cam and tappets you can serve soup in will still be quicker and have more torque than your derv
Plus the V8 sounds nicer
And lets face it..
The RR was Born with a V8
Not a derv
Touch wood, it has been running fine for the for the few trips it has done to and from work. Apart from being a tad slow, handling like crap, not liking starting up and bits falling off inside and outside while driving along that is!will be easier to track down the problem with the Pbox removed for now.
could just be the box itself, they don’t last forever.
This one is manual. I don’t think it’s much slower than it should be, if at all, because it runs quite well when driving. The auto is slow. Flush intercooler, change filters and oil. Beru plugs help starting but if you have chain stretch it'll be harder.

I know I’ve got in tank pump issues but haven’t got to glow plugs yet due to the large list of issues. Fairly certain there’s some chain stretch involved so I’m going to move the injection pump a bit and see what happens. I’ll time it properly if I can find my old timing kit and dial gauge set....
Once the running and driving issues are sorted I’ll chip it and increase the boost a touch if I keep it.Yes, they're not racing machines but the manual is quick enough when you boot it, especially in cold weather.

Chipping it will do the gearbox no good and increasing the boost in addition is a good way of ensuring a cracked head.Once the running and driving issues are sorted I’ll chip it and increase the boost a touch if I keep it.
Thought it was you that claimed chipping/power boxes caused cracked heads?Chipping is a good idea. Careful with the boost though. I wouldn't turn more than 1/2 turn on tge waste-gate. Actually I wouldn't touch mine at all but if you like to play!
