P 38 Regulator Probs

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone had had said complaint:

The front r/h regulator went on my '01 p38 which I replaced with new part off ebay ( Around £42 ) Now the part fitted fine, looked slightly larger, few extra teeth, but hey ho it worked fine...Until today where it has gone again. Now it has worked for around a month and I haven't taken the panel off to be sure but the 'knocking' is just the same as last time. My question is, has anyone had a problem like this and if so is it down to poor replacement part why it's gone gain or is there possibly another reason which would break any new regulator?

Most likely a crap part with soft teeth Moz, especially if it didn't look the right size to start with. Send it back as being of unmerchantable quality.

A friend of mine replaced his with a new one he bought off Ebay a few years ago. It lasted one day. Stripped the door panel off to find that one of the spot welds had broken on it and the quadrant gear was moving away from the motor pinion when it was under load.
Took the regulator off and got it mig welded at a local body shop for a drink.
It has been fine since.
Needless to say, he contacted the seller who said he would replace it F.O.C. Problem was of course that my pal would have been unable to secure the car properly whilst the old one was sent back and the new one delivered some days later.

It was fairly close, maybe 2 extra teeth which I thought I'd wing it but yeah, I kinda guessed ****e part, just wanted to be sure before I ordered another more expensive one. (And how many of us just write off returns to ebay rather than go through the hassle?!? HA)

Thanks Irishrover...I got yours as I was replying to Datatek, and I was thinking to myself what a pain it is to return! I may try to return it after I've gotten round to buying a decent one but whats the betting it goes in the skip and I write it off?!? I shall stick to Mansfield 4x4 et al from now on LOL
