Hello all im new on here just got myself a 2002 4.4 v8 range rover love it to bits but heres the problem.
I picked the car up from the garage they had checked all the fluid levels, i drove it 40 miles on the motorway about 65mph, then when got close to home decided to open up the v8 ne7xt thing i know the temp is in the red!!! so i slow right down and crawl home at which point water is coming out of the cap of the header tank, i rang the guy and carried on, so i filled it back up once it cooled down and all seemed well.
I ran the car all week no problems, untill i was coming home and decided to open it up again and guess what it boiled in the header tank BUT the temp was reading half way (normal).
So rang my local land rover dealer to book it in, i ran the car over the weekend till today again no problem.
Land rover spent 4 hours looking at it today leaving it running went down motorway, tested sensors on computer, flow tested radiator and could find nothing, well seems very odd to me, all they could come up with is the cap on the header tank, if thats not very very tight it could cause that.
Does this sound right???
Any suggestions what to do next??
Since getting the car back ive kept it in sports mode and my foot has not come off the floor all night and it been ok!!!
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
