why are you selling? I've had D1's in the past - good motors - but prefer my D3 :D:D

No... the owners know they are illegal, all we can do is hope the police will eventually catch up with them and crush them.

Its annoying me now! Want a diesel for offroading I can't afford the fuel now I'm a single dad running my own house. Also starter motor broke so I've gone feck it!

LAND ROVER SERIES III 2 2A 3 GALVANISED CHASSIS NEW UK MADE STEEL 2.5MM NRC4642 | eBay
Not a bad price from what I've been looking at to rebuild one of these "V5 and rust for sale" series on. I'l try to atleast save one series from orange hell!

...May be worth taking a look at the prices for chassis direct from Richards Chassis as this company seem to be adding quite a mark up for a standard 88" ???

ooh i thought that was for the 109 4cyl one! As that's the I'd I was looking at! See £1723 for the chassis I'd get from them but that would be a kick ass 109 then!

I can only speak from experience, and say that the bulkhead that they did for me was absolutely brilliant, and also the galvenised framed doors... yes if you look really closely you can just about see where they refurbished the old bulkhead before galvanising it, but I actually prefer the fact that it is not a brand new bulkhead... with regards to location, when I last went there they were located in a tiny little place called Anna Valley in Hampshire, which is about 2 miles from the centre of Andover.

Take a look and if you like what they do then buy... if not then don't. I know that they are at most of the Landy Shows these days and I have found the guy who runs it (Lyn Swann) a thoroughly decent chap to deal with

well I have to agree that bh does look good :D

on the getting you money back front, to me that wouldn't be so important, if you did chassis and bh you know they have been done and how well and the car will then outlast you if looked after, that comfort must be worth a fair bit. also depends how long you intend to keep the car I guess.

I know its only a question of time before the chassis on both mine will start to hole.

Galvy chassis is THE way forward ...BUT don't do it if it is for commercial reasons .

IF you intend keeping your series then the addition of a galvy chassis (and possibly bulkhead/front panel/copper brake lines AND a new loom ) should give you many years of peace of mind .
Keep the fitting of **** that comes in blue boxes to an absolute minimum and nowt safety critical ...and you'll be laughing .

Possible to re-chassis a series in a weekend with some preparation and kit and a couple or so folks that know what they are doing .
We did my mates over a weekend (Not starting each day till 11 ish )

Chassis Swap - YouTube
I learnt a long time ago to avoid blue boxes, none on my series :)

No major rush to do it assuming i can get a barn to do it in, happily take my time, tbh, i couldn't commit a whole weekend to working on it, 1 day a weekend a month is all i get time for at present :( (+ some evenings if i'm lucky)

That looks excellent. My landy is an off road toy, not a rivet counters dream, it doesn't need to be anything close to perfect!

So after a bit more research and thinking, i'm going off the galv. chassis and bulkhead idea - mainly down to cost :( - Reckon it would be £3k by the end of it, with doing up a house, buying the wife a new car next year and lots of holidays, i don't have an extra £3k lying around :/

So, am now considering a second hand chassis... not ideal, but, will be drastically cheaper and give me a few more years of fun and games with it!

Build one :p Owl did

Haha... yeah  IF i had the time, skill and space and tools... then maybe!

As it is, we have a 2 car driveway, with 5 cars, a workshop at the top of a 3 teir garden with no vehiclar access and no spare time at all

lazy **** :p

find a mate with a forklift, undo all the bodywork and keep as much electrics intact as possible by making plug connections, lift off as one, swap engine, axles etc over first or buy axles etc to make a rolling chassis, drop body on and do it in a weekend ;)

And you 12 hr project is entering what year 3:rolleyes:

Buy a cheap disco for laning ect while you do the series up ? Or could you not fit it on the drive ?

I have the D3 for gentle laning - and i can cope with no laning whilst i do the Series up, it's just a cost thing.

I can probably pursuade my neighbour to lend me a barn for a few months to do it all in, it's just the cost of the chassis which is the issue at present.
