Open fuel flap without switching ignition key off?

I don't think you can, without running a new feed to the solenoid, and as it is BCU controlled, that might be a bit of a job.

Pin 3 on the 8-way connector on the back of the BCU is the solenoid feed, but remember that the pulse to open the flap is not just 12V being turned on to the solenoid, it is time and current controlled.

it's piece of cake...the BCU only completes the earth path as to not let it open with engine running or alarm on but the solenoid gets feed from fuse F2 directly through the switch... you have to connect directly to eart the red/blue wire which goes from BCU to the solenoid, that's all...then it will open all the time when you push the switch... as a matter of fact IMO LR overcomplicated this thing by involving the BCU

Cheers, I'll give it a try. Over here during summer, no one wants to switch off the a/c for refilling when it's 49degs outside... All the petrol stations are full service....

So just to clarify - short pin 3 to pin 5 right?

 which pins are you talking about...there are two wires to solenoid, a purple/red from switch and a red/blue from BCU, you have to cut the red/blue wire near the solenoid and connect it to body as the solenoid to have permannent earth not managed by the BCU...or if it seems easyer to you cut from BCU C0664 pin 3 and connect that to earth.

EDIT : just realised you spoke about pins of C0664, you have to cut the wire from pin 3 to not give earth backwards to BCU, and you can connect it to pin 5 yes

I saw that BCU C0664 pin 5 was earth, so though that bridging it to pin 3 would provide the earth?

Finally got around to having a go, this afternoon.

Thanks, it works great. Now I can sit in the car, fat dumb & happy, while they fill it up... :)

Nope - need the aircon nice and chilly... It's just the way they do it over here, so who am I to argue ;)
