Bought my first Range Rover on wednesday from a gent who had given up his p38 2.5diesel, the poor guy newer got the air out of the radiator after a heaterhose burst. It`s been sitting 1.5 years and he wanted it gone fairly cheap, £1000. It had plates on and the eu-test is still a half year out. I`ve never been in a RR before, so I traveled 500km to drive it home, must say I had some nerves when I got to the car armed with a flathead screwdriver and topped of lungs(did I just see you nod?) I huffed and I puffed and drove it home:)

Very good interior, faded green paint and shoddy transfercase i believe. Everything else works(well, exept a doorlock of course). So on my way to the scrapyard today to find some rims(those star hurricane ones) I stumbold upon another p38 4.6 that the scrapowner at one point was going to restore. So now I have 2(wife of course is very pleased, again:cool:)

@Nooblab

I always reckoned that when i owned and ran a P38 you always wanted another one or 2 to rob bits off to keep one on thee road...

Good luck with it, i migrated to the defender arm of the forum... still hang my nose over a rangie or disco now and then and think i love a nice cheap project.....

Guess the 4.6 petrol one is not getting on the road, thinking of taking tranny and transfer to the diesel. Some work but i do see myself driveing these for a long time. One thing, the gent forgot to mention that he had taken out the steering damper. It was a long drive home 500km in a snowstorm

A lot of your two are not compatible with each other. If you keep one you could sell parts off the other to pay for new bits perhaps? (Not on here though you need to earn your keep before you can sell here).

Welcome to the madness :)
