Nice vids! Where in the Alps was the parapenting, I did it off Avoriaz but that looks a bit higher than where I was!

Also, in all your overland miles, have you had any problems with the EAS? My Classic is on EAS, just trying to do as much preparation as I can! :)

No problem so far with EAS but im thinking of replacing air bags and overhauling the pump before next trip to Mongolia with any luck.
The parapemti was from 3200 m in Chamonix Mt Blanc in the french alps

Cool project!! I'm planning to do it too in few years.
Sure it can do it.

OK, good to know. Do you carry any spare EAS components? Air springs, airlines, seals, etc? Do you have any emergency inflation devices/valves fitted?

the only problem with the car I had in Kosovo and that was the centre console switches packed up and didnt hve any widows or sunroof working but the main Land Rover dealers in Pristina had a new or scond hand one they sold me for about 200 euros and fitted it.
The other problems i had were with the new Pirelli tyres i had fitted 3 out of four had sidewall problems and i could not claim as i was in Macedonia and was not taking them back to where i bought them also the 4 th one is just about worn out after 15000 miles so guess i wont be buying any more of them.
I replaced two of them with Hankook ice bear and the handeling improved imensly and the tramlining was eliminated.
I think next trip i will try and get some 16 in wheels and look at getting Cooper tyres.

Guys, i repeat it since it's very important. Get an inflation system in case either an airspring exploses or a leak or dead compressor...
You won't be able to find an airspring next day in most countries outside UK.

Imagine you screw an airspring in Marocco (for example), you'll wait at least a week to find one. But any garage in the world as a tyre pump...

You want to know what EAS bit i have in the spare wheel:
-4 eas inflation valves
-4 fittings to repair a cutted or melted pipe
-2 meters of pipe
-1 compressor ring

I won't carry any airspring since front and rear are different.

Spent 11 years with my P38 and did something like 60.000 miles on it and often on bad roads.

Did extensive work and mods on the EAS system, so i know a little. Did you know that you could drive a range rover on 3 airsprings only??

I live in Australia and often visit the UK and used to buy a car for about 200 to 400 quid and trash it round the continent for a few months. The first one I bought was a Citroen BX19 and took it right across Russia and back to the UK putting 38000 miles on it in 6 months and found i could source parts over the Internet and get them delivered by DHL to most parts of Russia but one time the CV joint broke the cage and i was in a place called Ust Cut and there was no internet but I found a guy with a lathe that made up a cage which took 2 days to make and he charged me $20 US.that was in 1998.
This last time i bought a 1999 diesel Range rover off Ebay and got a good one so i also bought a garage to tore it for the next trip
I might try and drive it to Malaysia and then ship it to Australia next Trip.

What if you burst an airspring, surely no reinflation devices would cure that? Personally, I intend to take 1x front and 1x rear air spring with me!

Also, how can you drive on 3 airsprings? I know you can in the old air-sprung Citroen's (Xantia's and the like, 3 wheels in fact!) but I didn't think the height sensors would allow for that on an RR...

Airspring explosion is very rare with recent ones. All the customers stories i heard were because of 10 years porous airsprings....Very often it was repairable by reseating the bladder on the upper mount...

One of my customers exploded one rear during an offroad session. Bladder was so bad, it was cut. Not repairable at least in France (because any tire shop in remote countries knows how to make a bodge on tires so on airsprings too as an emergency thing)

He had a inflation system and a 12 v compressor.
Took the relay timer under the LHD seat and over inflated the rear right spring that was still in good shape.

The way air suspension works (4 independant springs) makes it possible to lift and almost level the vehicle with only 3 airsprings

We did it on 30 miles to the next city.
Of course it bottomed while cornering on the broken side but on straight roads and highways it was very fine...It could have been even better if he didn't have oversize tyres.

What i want to demonstrate is if you have to choose between inflation system or spare airsprings alone, choose the inflation system.

Airsprings alone won't serve you anything at all if compressor is shot...and no other way to fill those. (except by the drier and then do the jumper method)

spare airsprings + valves are the BEST combo that i'll surely choose when going as remote as Mongolia... (2015 maybe)

That's what I'm going for too! Do you have any images of the inflation system, or a 'plumbing' diagram as it were? I enquired about the inflation kits available on eBay for the P38's but are not suitable for the Classic.

I'm replying in your old thread about marocco:)
