After getting my Landy and realising that it has a mixture of AF and Metric fixings I started to look for old tools instead of just buying new stuff. My father then gave me all of his old tools including AF, Whitworth and BSF spanners etc. He also gave me my grandads old tool chest (he died before I was born).
What do others do? Go for new or hunt for the older quality tools?
Here are a few pics:

A lot of suppliers quote metric as a default. I'm reluctantly having to order in metric but there's still whitworth etc . I find that the landy parts manual is confusing but suppliers tend only offer metric. I'd keep all your spanners n sockets and use as required. Seems landys are held together by 10 and 13mm bolts n screws.

The prop shafts are 9/16 AF and the master cylinder etc are also AF it's a right good mix!!! :)

Nice to see something like that, I always imagine the history it must have.

By the way after a few years on this site I have a feeling that many land rovers are owned by old tools.
