any pics of both pumps ,as ive never heard of a non std pump so i can see what they are referring to

I'm not sure if they meant oversized for the engine or oversized from the original pump.

The one on the right is the one that came with the car when I bought it. I don't know if it is original. The one on the left is the one that failed.

I've checked the spline carefully and there is a chunk missing from the pump end of the driving rod. My guess is that this is the source of the metal in the pump. It isn't easy to see but it is quite a lot that has broken off

There is also wear at the other end. Maybe from when the metal went through the pump gears.

It doesn't seem to have damaged the drive underneath the injection pump. (Sorry for my lack of correct terms)
