Pikey, I aint preaching and a lot of the problem is that we are all too bull headed to back down and see sense.
Now I offered you local knowledge which you didnt have the decency to acknowledge.
I was born and raised in the area so am lucky enough to possess the in depth local knowledge you maybe were after.
The Chip Run was a mammoth undertaking and a huge effort on the groups part which was 3 months in the making.
Would it not have been the proper thing to do out of professional courtesy to ask all of us how we felt about you organising a chip run rather than plagiarising our combined group effort?? It was not as simple as 'lets go laning' it had to be planned to the nth degree to ensure it was safe, fun, legal and worthwhile for those that were prepared to travel hundreds of miles to attend.
The route covers many areas of SSSI and is mainly in an AONB, culminating with the World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast and Chesil Beach.
Do any of you have any idea of the behind the scenes planning involved?
I personally spoke to several landowners across the region to pacify them and explain that we were enthusiasts and not 'yobs in 4x4s' because we would have had problems on the day otherwise.
Trust me, I know these people, many of whom are long standing friends. I could go on, but I wont as there is no point.
I wish you well with this trip and hope it runs as well as it did when the S*L*U*Ts pioneered it.
If you **** it up and I get it in the neck from the farmers I will send them to you and Robin.
Minty, I aint got no problem with you but please try to understand that this row has been brewing and things needed to be said. Enjoy your time in Dorset, you'll love it!
And finally to Robin : hope you manage to lead for more than 2 lanes this time!
ENOUGH!!!
I aint here to take sides or blow sunshine up arses. I do think that the bickering should be stopped now before it gets past the point of no return. I don't know what the rest of you S*L*U*T*S think but as far as I am concerned a pub meet and a chance to chat and work out differences (hopefully in the not too distant future) might be the way to go.
hate to say it guys - but this thread is a great way to put people off going laning in a group with people from here. obviously i dont know many of you lot off here, but the 4 people i have met have been amazingly helpfull (to the point of helping me tie my front wing on, and also bleeding my brakes in the rain at 8pm!! cheers again D71). i aint gonna arse lick but i will say that the people who have taken me out, taken the time to show me lanes and show me how to use my car properly without ever getting ****ed off have all been SLUTS. so i aint gonna say that anyone is to blame, as ive never had a bad word with Red, and again Robin has offered me help with something which he didnt have to do.
this thread isnt doing anybody any good, and although im sure you all have valid points (which il admit i dont understand) might it be an idea to maybe sort them out off-thread? most if not all of us reading/replying to this thread just want a good days laning because its what we enjoy - its why were here afterall!! unfortunately im a total newby from up north so im deffo the wrong person to try and organise a laning day, otherwise i'd gladly offer to help.
dont wanna **** anyone off by sayin what i have, but i feel some of whats being said is having/will soon have a VERY bad effect on people on here and future trips out which people like me without any experience find invaluable as both a learning exercise and also a fun way to get to know people with the same interests an stuff.
just my opinion, il crawl back under me rock now:doh:
