Evenin all. ;) Im in need of some help please. This is the short version cos the long un makes me mad :mad:
Problem with freelander 2.0l diesel, year 1998. Its been on the diagnostic machine type thingy and it says "injector begin sensor". Could anyone please tell me what this is and where it is situated on the car.

It's located in the fuel tank.

Step 1) fill with petrol, infact douse the ole car in petrol
Step 2) light with some sort of fire lighting apparatus (anything will do)
Step 3) toast marshmallows and have a beer
 
Id like to point out that the freelander isnt mine.....its the missus's motor and if i set fire to it she will probably kill me slowly :eek:

Car went in for a valet. Came back with engine management light on, lacking power and chucking out blue smoke. Bloke had been in the engine bay with the power washer.:mad: My first thoughts were water on hot turbo=f****d turbo? Or water in fuel somehow? He plugged it in today but has no idea what the injector begin sensor is and nor have i. With one disco laid up til i change the prop :( and the other not insured :( we need to sort the freelander.
 
Sorry mate I'm not being helpful, nothing to do with the fuel tank, just winding you up.


Possible that he got water in the ecu?? Or a wiring loom somewhere? I don't know freelanders atall?

Sounds like a blown turbo, take off the Intercoler hoses and check for excessive oil
 
If you find water in the ECU box I'd try 'blotting' it up with kitchen paper towel roll and then use a hair dryer. Then the WD40.

The sensor is on one of the injectors - possibly on Nr.1.
Use a hair dryer on that too.

Pesumably fault code 142.
 
Spot on, 142 it is. Ive been out and blotted it with kitchen towel and squirted with wd40. I will get on the sensor tomorrow. Its time for a tin of cider and chill out for the evening. Thank you all. :D
 
I jetted my engine bay as soon as bought my 1.8 immediately had the same symptoms youre describing. Nice mechanics next door in Halfords knew exactly what had happened. They unscrewed I think the bits on top of the engine and just blew all the water out of each hole with an air compressor, job done, ran perfectly after that. Must say tho thought I'd fukked it!
