Bought a MK4 DVD unit off a guy today and he assures me it's in full working order etc....

Put it in my car and it all works and comes on great but the GPS just says waiting all the time! I plug my old unit in and get the GPS and map etc.

Me thinks it's not working as well as he said it was!

Waiting for the correct DVD?

I have put a DVD in it that I bought but now you mention it that might not be working.

If it was the GPS signal would it say no signal?

It's all good. I found my old disk and that works fine so ill see if I can pick up a more up to date disk on the web.

Thanks for your input chaps! Saves me going back to the guy on eBay and making myself look like a tit!

did a software up date on the new drive today and i now have an up to date version of the nav disk with the new speed camera data.

Even if you are visiting and yes impossible to police. Another fecking stupid law:rolleyes:

Speed camera data is available as an app on most smartphones... I'm sure it's really inhibiting people :p

I thought the french used policemen rather than cameras mostly to catch speeding?

Cameras and radar everywhere now and unlike the UK they can be hidden with no warnings, they fit cameras in the armco that are all but invisible.

Don't the French time vehicles between toll gates on the motorways (Autoroutes) to catch speeders.

They do that as well, 50Kmh over the limit and you lose your car.
However if you know the road, you can cruise at well over the limit as long as you stop for a coffee before the peage:rolleyes::)

In fairness you can go faster by default :p Do you think they'd be as hot on it if they didn't have an 80mph limit? Is this what we would have had to look forward to had ours been raised?

Sure the unit itself cost me £240 and as I'm lazy and couldn't be bothered to download the software update and nav info I paid another £25 to a guy on eBay who sent me 2 discs.

One for software update to enable split screed and 3d view (and to remove the BMW logo) and the second disc is a 2013 nav DVD that stays in the unit.
