My td4 2003 is not starting without using easy start spray. It's been in the garage for 2 weeks now. Mechanic says the fuel is returning back to the tank after it starts. He says the pumps are working and he's changed seals of return hose from injectors. But still won't start without easy start. Any thoughts welcome

it must have enough fuel otherwise it wouldnt start with easy start and keep running,if it takes time for fuel to purge good battery and starter would start it after some cranking ,any other symptoms

doesnt matter how long it turns over it just won't start with out the spray. When it first started to not start if u know what I mean. It would start after a few turns then after driving for about 45 mins I would park it turn off engine the try to start after about 10 mins then it wouldn't start again. Don't know if that means anything.

Don't use easy start mate it's like poison to an engine long term, try starting if a tow start if it starts straight away its injector leak off 100%

I'm not a fan of easy start but it was only only way to get it to the garage. I'll try towing it. The leak off hose was changed recently

If you HAVE to use a spray in the short term, (as an engine can get 'addicted' to it), use carburettor cleaner NOT 'easy start' in a diesel ...

it cant get addicted to easy start its an inaminate engine not a person, it will allways need easy start till you fix the issue causing poor starting

If an injector leaks off too much diesel it can't build up fuel pressure to start. Use easy start it spins much faster so it can build up pressure and starts

Yes James, that's why there are little marks around the word ...
Long term use of 'Easy Start' can cause pre-ignition in diesels, burning the pintles off the injectors ...because regular excess use would wash away any oil from the bores, which would lower the combustion pressures...

Easy start cleans out carbon and can reduce compression hence needing it even after problem fixed, only really on older engines. Which obviously are more likely to have problems

dont use he word then, youd need very prolonged use

No so, a heavy handed squirt will do the dastardly deed ...
With the gases ignited at the top and bottom of the bore and met in the middle, this build up in pressure is what makes engines 'addicted', it maybe because of the con rods bending and lowering compression ... :(

thats not real life though
