Hello people has anyone got any ideas what the hell is going on with my p38 diesel.went out Monday morning and started it with no problems went back to it 2 hours later and it turned over but wouldn't start.Changed the pump stop solenoid just in case but still no joy have got diesel to the pump but it has not reached the injectors just like something is stopping the diesel from getting to the injectors

Whilst it is rare on the Diesel....

Rick the Pick could be correct....

The BeCM needs to check the Engine ECU is correct and then allow it to start the car. It is very common on the Petrol models that they lose sync with eachother and need to be reset.

This needs to be done on a diagnostic system or you can get a SyncMate tool from BBS that you plug into the ODB socket to reset the sync between the two systems.

The diagnostics man has just left muttering and moaning about the BeCM not talking to the immobiliser.Got a proper Landrover man coming out Saturday to reset it all and see what happens,he reckons 1 of the neighbours has got a dodgy doorbell or the Police headquarters opposite where i live have got a dodgy aerial over there that has killed my motor :wtf: :censored:

It sounds(As Rick the pick said) the Becm and engine ecu code is corrupted.
The "dodgy" item in this equation is more likely to be your RF receiver, especially if you do not have the latest version installed

My understanding is that a loss of sync is commom on the Diesel and Bosch petrol versions and rare on the petrol engined Gems versions.

Police radio transmitter is a good bet. I would think about replacing the RF receiver for the latest version (NOT from Ebay) and in the meantime disconnecting the aerial:)

It's less frequent on the diesels judging by the reports on here:)

May well be the case now.Initially BBS made syncmates for the diesel and Bosch petrol management systems as their EDC,s had a fixed code, which the BECM "forgot".As the Gems EDC could learn a new code presented by the BECM it did not seem to be affected.
Later they introduced a Gems syncmate which presumably writes a new code to the BECM and then puts the GEMS EDC into "Learn Mode" effectively resyncing the two.

Hello people my man turned up this morning plugged his computer in sorted the problem and left in about 5 minutes,He advised me to buy a new RF receiver which i did (island4x4 only 2 minutes away)now just got the task tomorrow of fitting it as he said it should stop the problem, going to buy a syncmate just in case.thanks everyone for their help with this it is much appreciated
