New oil cooler/warmer went on today.
Old reservoir removed first, emptied independently of the system (this time) then scooshed with turps, then floor cleaner and finally two kettles of almost boiling water.
Coolant flush added and ran @ fast idle for 20 mins, followed by 5 rinse cycles in order to get most of the original coolant out.
New stat fitted (giggling valve upwards)
New Oil and filter (t'was due anyway)
Last flush was almost clear with nigh on no oil residue present.
New coolant added.
Fan kicks in at 90 deg repeatedly.
Will monitor now for a month or two before fitting the sparkly new reservoir.
I intend to test the old cooler somehow, but the amount of oil present in the coolant was tiny, it obviously looks worse spread across the surface.
Easy job, just a bit time coinsuming. (haha fruedian slip),
PS. When she said it got HOT in traffic transpired into it just popped over 90deg,
as in the halfway mark,
so all good there then
