Ok, I think it may actually be 4 days since Mrs Pug has had her jalopy back (nothing a good chiropractor can't sort I hear you cry!!)

That's it, I'm sending the Invoice!

Actually, she lives not too far from me, I'll pop a wee note under the 1 ton concrete bollard I discreetly blocked her in with.
You gotta luv Hi-abs.:D

No, it's 3 days after all, (almost a lifetime for something that only lives 3.25 days)o_O

Anyhooooo, perchance she phoned me, with the good news, I replied "I didn't think we stood that close to each other", heheh:D

Ok, NO oil has returned, not even a tiny blob.:)

What say you?

I say that is a good start. it may be that it only occurs when the engine gets very hot or it maybe only a tiny amount per week.
The links i posted mentioned that all was well for about a month but anyway, so far so good.:)

I wonder if I can use this thread to ask about another Non LR? :)

Does anyone have any experience around Transits?

I sort of basically maintain one for a charity and it's recently started playing up.

It's a Mk6 Transit, 90hp TDDI

It has lost power, and seems quite 'Diesely knock'...
Tbh, I haven't had much time to look into it, but I've done the easy stuff like checking intercooler system, egr, but beyond that I'm kinda lost.

It idles fine, no missing.
I'm alone and afraid when it comes to diesels!

I've googled the symptoms and it appears there is a timing solenoid on the back of the pump that can cause this issue, and when I had codes read the P0149 (I think) was there, along with egr.

My question, what would the symptoms be if the egr was faulty, as I've had it off and it's clean and the valve is free.

Any wisdom and insight is immensely appreciated.:)

Pug still fine, no oil has returned into coolant.

Turns out old Pug has seen at least two other garages in the last year, my suspicion is now with another crew because I recall on the grapevine a m8s m8 had an MOT fail at this particular establishment, and I believe the story was it failed on a rear wheel bearing. (Taper type)
It transpired that this m8 is a finicky sort and had checked and adjusted the rear bearings the night before the MOT!!!
When he inspected the bearing AGAIN, the new split pin HE fitted was definitely tampered with.
He merely adjusted it back up again and submitted it for retest, and it passed.....of course.

Slimey fcukers!!

Well folks, the old pug has done a couple of K since last posting, owner religiously checked the coolant before every major trip......checking oil level and coolant for contamination.

It did a 900 mile trip with no issue......

BUT......oil has returned in the coolant

It apparently got hot in a traffic jam!!

No water in the oil, fan kicks in as expected.

Soo, Ordered a new Oil cooler, fluids, flush agent, filters and a new reservoir, but I've informed her it may yet be the HG.

Probably should do thermostat and fan sw.?

If the fan kicks in reliable when it should why change the sensor? Certainly do the stat. Does the fan spin freely? Had a few that would spin & then partially seize.

Van not in my hands yet, but I'm sure I checked fan last time round, but I'll check it both cold and hot this time.

Was thinking sensor sw due to age really, and the fact it overheated in traffic where it's worked hard,

Also look at the the coolant pressure cap, lack of pressure will cause an overheat.

It's a new genuine cap actually, because the original wasn't tightening properly, it's a weird thread, 4 separate quadrants.

I will check for pressure when hot.

I'm aware of the low pressure scenario.

Mended a 1.4D Pug motor 20 years ago, water in the oil, t'was the liner seals, bigish job.

Never been deep in a 1.9 though, I presume has similar seals, although no visible signs of that scenario.
