No indicators or hazards

Sorry, i misunderstood that you've already paid 99 quid for that failed diagnose:oops:.... unfortunately no LR spcialist is trained to deal with ugly botches made by some schmucks like i presume it was made on your's seing those cut wires
True, but they will know how to rectify it

Let's stay positive sierra!

I respect your attitude... but it's hard for me to stay positive while i've had too many friends who came to me to fix things which were unsolved by LR main dealers/specialists after they kept the vehicle a week and came out as it entered :(

Oh I can imagine

You know how thats solved don't you?

Move to Glasgow and ill have you on retainer!

I know how you feel though , when I had the capri and was on that forum it was the same thing

The way to look at this is, yes, my car has obviously had some bodges done but its now in the hands of someone who will care for it

Though that's the funny thing, I told my wife when buying it that it was purely something to get from a to b in

But I've only had it a week and love it so much I'm looking into tinted windows and remaps

Haha!

Reslly appreciate all of your help

Grr.

Frustrating news, 120 for the test, 40 quid for 30 mins looking at it for him to tell me

Indicators - problem he thinks is caused by the person who did the after market central locking as he thinks it has messed up the bcu . Is that even possible!?

New bcu apparently which will be 3 months to get and 1500 to do...

Amigos - abs unit faulty which could cost 1500...

SURELY he is talking rubbish.

Don't be scared cos it can't be so bad,

it's possible but in this case quite unlikely as long as the dash indications are working but this is not very hard to be ruled out as a working used unit is around 50 quid and all you need is atester to set it
Amigos - abs unit faulty which could cost 1500...
now that boll*x i... can't understand how somebody can blame the ''unit" in so short time epecially that i dont know what he means by that, the modulator or the ECU

In addition to the above, register here http://www.thed2boysclub.co.uk/index.php then if you open and scroll up to Glasgow and point on the icon at Greengairs here https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&mid=1PmbphOvO47RAsn1ZdQFDD-ed-zo&ll=55.90132205870695,-3.9208994524415175&z=14 you'll see a guy nicknamed "Oilcan" who might help cos he is smart and has tester but you can contact him first only through the forum.

though without indicators it's hard to get there so if you can manage with electrics i'll tell you how to make a reversible emergency bodge as to make them work

Only thing I can think of with the indicators is that when you press the button on the remote, the hazards flash, so there has to be some connection. As your remote locking has been jiggered by a bodger it might have something to do with it.
Land Rover Main dealers have their own private Mint. And a licence to print money. No one in their right minds would expect you to wait months for new really expensive parts to fit to a real cheap old shed. but then Land Rover will only guarantee work done using proper Land Rover parts. Glasgow is a big "toon" there MUST be a decent 4x4 specialist there who knows Land Rovers. Your faith in garages is touching. +1 to sierrafery re the first diagnostic and the ABS, (and what else he said) it should have told you something about it, although it does depend what system he has.

This is all starting to make the welding pale into insignificance, though it should still be cheaper to do. Wonder if the seller has gone to Greece yet? I notice one other poster has said that he was just looking to get rid of it before the MOT ran out. Wonder how he drove it with no indicators. Mind you, if you went with him for a test drive, you might see the tell-tales on the dash, but who looks outside, unless they go through the whole car properly as far as the electrics are concerned.
Thank goodness Sierra has a work around to get the indicators working, would love to know it, just in case!

"Who was it that said about selling just before the MOT...."

quote from Kevstar #15 on your introduce yourself thread.

"Forget that one mate, its had mot advisory's for corrosion on the rear chassis since 2016 id bet a years wages on it that
it will need welding soon, if it was that good a motor they would keep it & drive it to Greece I know I would.
They are trying to sell it before the mot runs out...."

Note neither he nor I said "just before the MOT ran out", he also said that if it was that good they would keep it and drive it to Greece. So did I, remember my comment that all they'd need to do would be to change the headlights?

You've completely lost me

Kevstar obviously looked up the mot history online

Hmm plot thickens!

When I have the window wipers on, the indicators and hazards work, as do the rear windows!!!

Haha what the hell does that signify. .

Self destruct get out quick:D

Good to see you keeping a sense of humour, stick with it. The guys are on the case and step by step will see you right:)
Only thing I would say is consider spending your good money on your own diagnostics/ multi meter, sounds like it will pay for itself

Mate, you have three threads running on the same vehicle, "Newbie from Glasgow", "Gumtree ad" and this one. Lots of members read your threads and some of them post on them. Any of us can check the MOT history, especially when you post pics of your vehicle without blanking out the number!! (See advert on gumtree!) (Thieves can see these too, but no matter.) Which is how we know that corrosion at the rear was evident in 2016.

Considering Kevstar hails from The banks of Loch Lomond I doubt he is an MOT tester in West Lothian, but not impossible. (Without the V5 or whatever it is called today, we cannot tell which MOT testing station did the MOT, but you could, if you are bothered, if you do not have the paper copy.)
You've got 7 months to get your MOT which should be enough. But it is fun for us seeing how many of the things on our checklists turn up on your vehicle. Keep reading the posts, buy a few basic tools and a diagnostics reader and be ready to do some of the work yourself and you will keep your costs down. You'll get there but for your own sanity, do not throw money at main dealers and cowboys.

It signifies your car's electrics have a sense of humour! Buy a Haynes manual, down load the RAVE manual and start looking at wiring diagrams. This last business must indicate that power, when switched to the wipers, is then accessible to the other stuff you mentioned is now working.

Yeah but am I not right in assuming that if the indicators work when the wipers are on, then it must be a daft wiring issue as I first thought a lot more likely than needing a whole new bcu?

Haha yeah , I am sure some of them are extracting the urine but by and large really helpful people on here, thank God!

Not quite sure why it would be fun for you seeing things pop up going wrong to be honest

If you were a true land rover enthusiast I would think you would be happy that there are people with more money than sense buying the ones that have been neglected and wanting to fix them

But each to their own
