have just acquired the said vehicle and lovely it is it has lpg with the tanks under the sills , now I have about 14 inch clearance below the tanks , how safe is it to offroad..I don't mean to extreme but in general cheers

I had the same car and took it to a pay and play. Half way round the course, a large slab flicked up from the front wheels and pushed one of the tanks up which caused the valve on top of the tank to crack. Had to wait for the gas tank to drain before carrying on using petrol.

I think that was just unlucky, but if I had the same again, I'd be tempted to beef up the tank mounts and add some protection underneath.

its sat on 265/75/16 bfg with a 2 inch lift..can I put wheel spacers on to give it more of a stanced look and will it affect driving etc cheers

I had two under tanks on my disco. Absolutely ****e off road with them on, you go over a bump and its scraping on the ground. Not a good idea. If you want to take it off road, scrap the tanks.
It does have a 2 inch lift . Polybushes etc plus the tyres.....it has about 14 inch clearance under the tanks. ..is this not sufficient clearance for general stuff? Thanks

It was a long time ago so vague memory, but I put spacers on a rrc. I had some problem with the front axle swivel area and in my reckoning additional strain had been applied by having the spacers, so I removed them.
Waiting to be told I'm talking **** now:lol:

Sounds like you should check the quality of the mounts. I never was troubled with mine but I did have rock sliders. They still took plenty of scrapes and bangs, did a few rtv trials with them
