Hi Guys,

Does anybody know where I can hire a Landrover in or around the London area for a towing job?

I need to transport my classic car on a trailer across London but my car is too small to tow. So the best solution would be to hire a Landrover (or similar 4X4) for the job. Alternatively if any fellow enthusiasts in the London area want to hire me theirs for a couple of hours, please get in touch.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hi,

Yes it would be much more fun, cheaper and easier to drive it but unfortunately it doesn't have an MOT yet, so would be slightly illegal.

Sorry I forgot to mention this above (oops).

Thanks,

Mark.

Thanks for the suggestion but it might be difficult breaking down in a car thats 85% rebuilt and parked in a garage, they might smell a rat.

i would have thought it would be easy to break down in a car that ain't finished
but why not try hertz, or the like

Slob,

thanks for the suggestions, I'll try them.

Can you advise what I should say if I'm asked any of the following;

Where are your numberplates?

Wheres your interior?

Wheres your windows?

Why can you touch the gearbox housing from inside the car?

Please help me with these.

number plate ..stick one on
interior..its the light weight version
windows.... the A/C is broken
gearbox thingy....ah said its the lightweight version
..

any more problems just let me know

Slob, wow clearly a man of much wisdomness. I think I'll stick to my original plan as it still seems the simplest.

I'm fairly sure that you are allowed to drive your car to a pre booked appointment at an MOT test station in a car that has no mot, so you could just book an appointment near to your destination, and then if you get pulled you're covered, and if you don't get pulled your car's where it needs to be, and you phone the garage to cancel the test. Call a test station and ask them. Hypothetically like, as I would never condone such underhanded shenanigans.
