Hi, I bought a service kit for my 90 TD which has had a 300tdi conversion.

I have an oil filter, 8 litres of 15w/40 and fuel filter both of which I'm happy changing.

I also have an air filter, but everywhere I'm looking for info on changing air filters shows a different system to the one I have.

The above shows the sort of thing I'm finding, but the air filter I have is literally just a plain panel style filter with nothing else. Probably a really basic answer, but if you don't ask you don't get :)

That is because you have a discovery engine and air filter. Pretty sure this was said in your intro post where you were worried about it being dodgy.

You need a 300tdi disco air filter.

Cheers

Hi welcome to the club. A picture would help to identify the type of filter you have. Just to make sure its not someone's botch up and to get the correct suggestions.

And you have an airbox for a 300tdi discovery in your engine bay , from what I remember about your engine bay picture.

Cheers

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding something here, but what I'm watching/reading for defender 300tdi's this isn't this product and you're also saying this isn't the right product for a disco 300tdi?

No, going by the flickr post You appear to have bought a 300tdi discovery air filter, and from what i remember you have a 300tdi air filter box in your engine bay.

open it up and take the old filter out and fit the new one.

tis not hard. Or is that not possible for some reason???

Cheers

Dont put 8 litres in as you will be busy drainng out the excess:D
Start with 6 and work from there, nothing worse than throwing away expensive new oil, not that Ive ever done that you understand!
Also takes an age for the oil to settle properly at least an hour or two, they can be a royal pita.
