New owner from just outside Elgin up in the NE of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 of a restored 02 td5 Defender 90, haven’t driven a LR since leaving the Army ohhh way back in 93 😂, just purchased it couple of days ago….. only got it as I live in the country side and have a long steep driveway and my main car won’t get up it in the snow, few things I’ll be upgrading and adding… all lights will be upgraded but 1st job is to get side steps as my missus can’t get into it 😂 short person problem… I did take a video of her failing to get in but warned not to post it on pain of death. So don’t ask 😜

I was at Kinloss 1985-88 in supply as a bod SAC Nimrod first line stores later on in Electrical Supplies but I did a year stint at lossie when Kinloss had the runway relaid.
I remember seeing the RAF regiment a lot there.
Great time being up there and enjoy the peace of life and the fresh air from moray firth.
Is Kinloss still a army camp?

Yep kinloss barracks as it’s known now is Royal Engineers RE,
I was Queens own Highlanders to start with then rebadged to REME royal electrical mechanical engineers, best years of my life 👍🏻

If I remember right, when the regiments was returning from Germany permanently after unification. Kinloss became a army camp to cater for the tanks sqd. It was a shame about the Nimrod's later being too expensive for renewal plus the crashes added to the final demise.
We used to have a Piper bringing in the new year on the station. So I guess you lot had Piper's with the celiah in forres. The best thing I ever did was driving all over the place around Inverness to Aberdeen to Tain. Travelling home to Manchester on leave early hours of the morning was a joy in winter 😵‍💫🎇
Nearly crap myself when I drove during the daylight seeing A9 route or the connection forres to Aviemore. Your a lucky fellow to be in a good place like Grampian Spey valley or coastal Moray.
Say hello to Pennan.
