Agree -Crap! Could find a single channel that didn't receive interference or wasn't already being used somewhere, needing to retune it as I moved from one place to another.

Or send it to Clarion. For a fixed fee, they'll also recondition it (new display etc and anything else it needs). Superb service and turnaround time. They're on Ebay or just google Clarion Radio Repairs.

Will they fit an mp3 socket though?

Actually I was wondering how that would actually work in practice. Does anyone have a Clario with the MP3 socket fitted? How do you select it as the stereo only has 3 modes as far as I'm aware (difficult to tell as the bulbs are blown on mine) - radio, tape and CD.

Ok guys - popped to the yard last night and the Rangie was sitting outside - Derek threw me the keys and said av a go. I sat in it put the key in the ignition and turned - it rumbled into life with a beautiful burble....

Ohhh so chuffed.

To be finished:
LPG switch broken
Bull bar ftted
Light covers fitted
Rear bumper re-aligned
Tow ar fitted
Full valet

I can't wait...

I had mine done a couple of years ago now. They don't (or didn't) fit a socket on the front. They fit a lead with a 3.5mm stereo jack plug that I just brought out over the side of the trim and keep in the glovebox when not in use. Not sure how it works internally but as soon as you input audio on this lead, it cuts off the radio. Sounds pretty good to me with the Harmon Kardon but I'm not noted for having good hearing......:)

If doing serious off-roading get a proper set of mud tyres for your 16" wheels. Difficult to drop pressure on big wheels mounted with low profiles, at least without damage risk. Also not sure about "harmonic damper" on axles? Forgive my ignorance please but what`s that? What does this appendage look like?

I am having to placate the missus, by pimping the Hippo for her, so far this weekend, new tyres, dog guard, wheel cover, wind deflectors...

My apologies, Kooky Guy is quite correct; they`re harmonic dampers to keep down gear noise/whine. Live `n` learn.
