So did you have the wrong rad in from the get go?

Crap material??????

when they tell you not worth repairing it means 2 things either they do not know how or don't have the right equipment. Our radiators must be different than yours then, Have never seen one that could not be repaired, unless smashed to fook in a accident.

West slope had 1 in his p38 was leaking and new was like $400, I told him to go to rad shop and fixed for about $120. most repairs can be done for less than 1/2 of new here, closer to 1/3 really

All the radiators have looked the same and weighed the same. But the two that i have gone through have both had the baffles missing to provide the correct coolant flow within the core.

Crap materials, as they have plastic end tanks and alloy cores.. So nothing can be done to them, bar, some platic welding if a crack appears or fixing of the core etc.. But basically its throw away part...

Labour rates must be lower where you are.... certainly not cheap here.

Bottom fell out of rad repair with the introduction of none serviceable, throw away plastic top and bottom tanks and alloy matrix rads. Only work for a few specialists who still do proper rad repairs. The days of service exchange rads were they would sweat a new matrix to the cleaned up tanks went years ago in the most part.

Had my plastic tank aluminium rad fixed for 1/3 of new:D was leaking where the trans cooler lines went into rad was leaking coolant. They took off tank put new gaskets cleaned, pressure tested for 1/3 of new, was over a $300 savings. Plus the truck had over 200k miles on the clock GMC 6.0 petrol:)

Bit far to send me radiator lol:D

That was just to show what kind of shop I am talking about:) When I went there with my issue, they have new plastic tanks and new gaskets to do a good fix. When the new plastic tanks came as standard they built a new machine to remove them, got a patent for it. Now a local steel fab shop builds them for them and sells them nation wide.

Places here just arent interested, especially as i guess the parts are cheap in the first place. So makes the capital investment hard to swallow for most companies. Shame though, as the only issue with most rads are the daft plastic tanks... Need to go back to all metal rads.

I was thinking with the problems assosiated with the diesel rad ie.silting up and baffle slip, would it be possable to plum up a petrol v8 rad into a diesel?
Way i see it,it would only need the top left (looking at it)hose moving to the bottom left
Would make draining the system easyer too

Can't see why ot wouldn't work other than the V8 has a thinner core and you'd have to run without the standard fan as the hoses would have to cross where it "was"

give it a go let us know how you get on :)

I would suggest getting one form a reputable specialist like 4x4 island. (no connection)
Call them and advise what you need and the check you will make on unit arrival.

They should be good to go. and your problems will be gone.

chase the other lot down. You could even make a video of your marble check and email the evidence to get your money back.
You have proved 'not fit for purpose'.
Best of luck.

looks like a diesel needs a larger radiator than V8 ..... so you will have cooling issues. as a diesel runs hotter and needs more cooling

No diesels don't run as hot as petrols (gas) to you. Petrol 88 degrees, diesel 80 degrees same coolant capacity.

My plastic top split when I was in Kazakhstan and had no chance of replacing the rad but found a radiator guy who made up a new top tank from a sheet of aluminium and it stil on after 20 000 miles .He gave me a 2 year guarantee but I dont see myself going back there to claim if it does leak.
