Well today I had a day off (huzzah!) so i spent a few hours on the 110.

I installed the new extreme double cardon front prop, revulcanised one of my 33" tyres as I had a damaged sidewall and it was going down overnight (most annoying!) anyway thats fixed now too...

also installed a rtc damper and my new led lightbar.

not wired this one in yet, but my last 22" one was really good. less spot and more general light everywhere.

picked up a military heavy duty stick set that i will modify into an internal roll cage for the rear to protect the kids :)

good god that double cardon prop has transformed the vehicle. its now quiet and smooth!

I turned up the pump yesterday. I was dubious as I wasnt sure what the previous owner had done to it, but i set it all up and bam... so much faster, safer as pulling out is no longer a hand in mouth experience and seems better on fuel. And it just sound shappier to boot! really pleased.

I also installed my centre console whilst i was there.

Project coming along nicely :) I can actually commute to work in it now without feeling knackered by the time i get here!

Thats good about the pump, I did mine and it didn't really make much difference. Will have another go when it is back together. Do you get much black smoke now?

Also, do you think the RTC damper makes any difference? I didn't go for one in the end, but wonder what it is like.

I turned the diapragm about 45 degrees clockwise in the end and put about 24 clicks on the spur gear underneath. again clockwise. I think theres more to come out of it as my other 200tdi was much faster.

I did about 30 degrees and 12 clicks at first and it was better but not hugely. With the 45 degrees it was transformed. Ive not yet adjusted the idle screw or the other screw (name eludes me ... no sleep!)

Same amount of black smoke as before, just a slight haze under heavy load. The engine runs smoother though and is notably quieter.

RTC Damper, again totally transformed it. Well its probably masking underlying issues to be fair. The previous owner had fitted this 4" lift but its got oem front radius arms, so its quite unstable and kept diving off left and right at the slightly bump with the oem damper. This RTC damper now allows me to take my hands off the wheel and its so much more pleasurable to drive.

Not sure what was up with mine then, I either got loads of power and black smoke, or normal power. Though it wasn't slow to begin with, for what it was anyway.

I pondered on an RTC damper, but had read a few reviews who said it made the handling less predictable. I guess it would help with big tyres and a 4" lift though.

maybe, im not sure to be fair. The handling is never going to be sportscar like in a defender is it  Ive driven some right shonkers in my time though so anything that vaguely goes round a corner is good enough for me!

My 110 is notably more stable since fitting the RTC damper though than my P38 is!

my new silicone intercooler hose just arrived at the office. now i can replace the gash aluminium pipework thats been bodged between the intercooler and inlet. Anything for a bit of reduced pressure drop!

right replaced the intercooler pipework, its a good 4mm larger diameter without aload of gash pigeon welding on the bend. Also the silicon offers a significantly improved surface finish which should improve the pressure to the intercooler :) Bargain £10 mods. The bestest!

Got any pics need to change mine

got a pic will upload shortly.

i tried out my new 52" 300w led lightbar last night on the way home.

JESUS!!! I dont want to drive without it now. Its like driving in daylight. You cant even see the headlights doing anything when its on.

all my new handbrake components turned up yesterday so i will fitting that this weekend, along with the new front springs and big bore dampers as i never got around to them last weekend.

ordered some more carling switch parts to continue getting all the electrics for accesories sorted. Im installed 4 no. 12 sockets - 2 normal and 2 dual usb sockets.

got led nas lights to install on the back and a reversing camera setup. Need to move the spare onto the roofrack so that i can put the camera in the optimal place and i can have it looking down at the towbar to assist in hooking up.

got a dog guard ready to go in (though it didnt come with the top mounting brackets) so will weld up some bits to get that in this weekend.

and am installing a new type of highback 2nd row seats to improve the kids comfort.. will post pics up of this when its done. I recon these will prove very popular!

New splashproof fusebox with multiple busbars for sorting all the electric accesories is fitted now as i hate touching vehicle electrics and it just makes life a breeze.

Ive ordered lots of parts to start building a very deep 48" long drawer system for the back.

Hi Vilguy, what's the gen on that silicone pipe stuff ? I need to replace the air hoses on my 110 2.5 TD but all the stuff advertised is for TDI's and onwards. Can those metre lengths they sell be played with to fit? I have no problem making bits of pipe to suit bends etc but never even handled silicone. After a long break from doing up my baby [spine trouble] I am back under the beast and whereas I can put silicone tape on the old tubes to seal them, the bit of blue bling looks nice :D

It's just the same as rubber hose only oil doesn't attack it. That's it really.

I only got that as it was cheaper than buying epdm hose.

I blagged some very posh hose through work at 150 notes a metre but the know sent a sample of 80mm instead of 52.

Mainly though I just wanted to reduce pressure losses in the system from changes in diameter and the surface finish of the silicone again reduces losses.

It's only minor but it all helps :)
