I am trying to nail as many of the faults early on. I have only owned the car a lot 4-5 weeks now. I know from experience from other cars. If you don’t fix them early on, you get used to faults, and they never get done.

Thankfully/ eventually I did find a decent responsive parts supplier. I had to contact 13 different suppliers before I found anyone who had the parts, and was professional enough to even communicate with me,
Just as well as I haven’t found a spares car yet.
 
is there any reason to run the engine without the covers on? They were missing when I bought the car, including the air inlet pipe.
I have mover replaced them.
tidies things up somewhat too.

I remove all mine as they can hide issues from sight. The bonnet is shut and no one can see anyway :D
Takes a bit work but you'll appreciate the car even more knowing you've kicked it into shape:cool:
 
Ok interesting. I thought it was just mine missing. When I was looking to buy I never saw another with the covers missing. Let alone the air inlet pipe.
They are only a few Allen bolts to take off for inspection. The engine is running spot on currently. But I will be maintaining it myself.
I prefer the tidy look with the original cover.
 
I am trying to figure out the purpose of this thing? It’s displayed on the wheel change diagram, but it doesn’t really click into place anywhere? Just kind of sits there?
It was missing from my car but they are under a fiver from the dealer, so I thought I would add it to my shopping list as I was buying some other parts

From what I worked out there is a sling that sits under the spare wheel that you hook over the tailgate so it lifts the spare wheel when the tailgate is dropped, that piece of plastic stops the tailgate from closing and the wheel dropping back into the wheel well.

Right I get you! I had figure to pull the straps to get the spare wheel out, but not that it hooks to the tail gate. I can see why though as the wheel is heavy.,

Any idea if there’s a specific/ correct place to store the this part?
 
Sometimes it’s easy to miss the obvious.
In fairness though, I only picked it up at yesterday evening.
I am surprised it does not really click in though anywhere. It only sits on top of the Jack? I could not find a way to secure it anyhow. So it might rattle around a bit.

I also bought a first aid kit. I took a gamble as the early model part number was not available, so I bought the later model part (available £20 ish), but it does not fit well into the intended box under the front passenger seat. Oh well.
