Good day all.

Just interfusing myself, Riaan from Botswana and this is my 1st Land Rover RR. It's a 2003 RR 4.4 V8 BMW engine. I'm waiting for a timing chain kit that I have ordered as I do have the timing chain grinding noise. So I'm not driving it now until I can fix it. In general the car is in mint condition and have 112k Km (70k Miles) on. I'm looking forward to start driving as everyone that owned a LR told me it's the best drive ever.

Welcome :).

Are you doing the work yourself? if so have a look around as I am sure somebody on here documented it @biketeacherdave I think.
Yes they are a lovely drive, enjoy it.

Thank you , I'm waiting on a Quote from a local mechanic (He worked for Land Rover) if he does the work. If he is way more expensive than a timing tool kit I will do it myself.

Thanks I will have a look for the wright up on doing it. I did watch some videos as well.

Yes iv got a write up on here and you will need the timing kit the cheap ebay kits have a tool missing and are poorly made but do the job my engines running like new just need ulez scrapped so I can drive it
Thanks I will see how to find your wright up.
I did order the E-Bay kit so for now that's what I will get as long as it will work. When you say there is a "tool missing" is that a tool to do the job with ? I got a local mechanic that have all the tools needed to do the job.

Good Day All.
Just some feedback. I decided to remove the fanbelt and start the car to see if the noise is still there as I was not 100% comfortable that the chain guides was my problem. It started and got up to temp and no noise . I then turned the alternator and felt some resistance . After removing and taking the alternator apart it came clear that the last owner got a problem and he did not sort it. So resulting in destroying the alternator beyond repair. I got a 2nd hand one and the car is running 100% and so comfortable .
I did get a Air suspension error but I know that I have to Fix the left front bag is its leaking. Other than that so far so good.

I have owned my lovely dark green Land Rover Discovery 4HSE TDV6 (2010) for several years but find, in retirement, that it costs more to keep it, in its current immaculate condition, than I can now afford. So, as an over-70-year-old, on a 3 year driving licence which expires in April next year, I plan to sell it. Sadly. But can I do that through this forum, please?
Please advise by email to me at [email protected] - Cheers, Alan Finn
