Alright guys? Dad's just bought a 110 Defender Single cab pick up 2.5td so thought I'd sign up here and have a look about! :)

We've had a few Landys before. Series 3, Defender 90, Disco and a Series 2 lightweight but He's just bought this one just for Offroading and messing about with really.

Gunna paint It Nato Green and we've got some Black Chequer plate for the Bonnet and wings, Snorkel and Steering guard off Rebel offroading..

I'm only 17 myself but will be good to drive the Landy offroad as I've never had a go myself! :D

:welcome2:

It'll make a very practical (and good looking) machine what with it being a high capacity pickup and it'd be ideal for camping if you could stretch as far as buying a hood set for it. Nato green will make a world of difference. You just need to get all the wheels looking the same, and you've got a decent truck, providing the chassis and the engine are both in good shape. If you decided to just stick some black modulars with wider / chunkier tyres on it, it'd look like a totally different vehicle.

Yea, I think the Nato Green and Black theme could make It a very mean looking machine!
I didn't go look at It with my old man but It's done 80,000miles and He reckons It's not a bad truck so we could be In for some fun :D

When you say it's a 2.5TD I assume you're referring to the 19J, and NOT a 200TDi or a 300TDi (or later). It'll be a good vehicle but make sure that you keep on top of the engine; don't over do it - it's not a racing machine (as you probably know) and service it regularly. The 2.5TD doesn't have the best reputation in the Land Rover world (in fact it has the worst) but there are a few good ones about. On the other hand, if it's got a 200 or a 300 TDi under the bonnet, you've got a fantastic machine.

The Nato Green paint's arrived, gunna get that done at the Weekend and Dad's picking up some Black Hammerite to do the Wheels Tonight :)

Got It off Ebay and we're gunna use a Roller for the main bits and a Brush for the others..
Got one of the Wheels off to spray but the other wont come off, I've already snapped one breaker bar trying to get It off! We keep soaking It In WD40 so hopefully that will sort it out.

I've had that problem before. I heated up the rim around the wheel nuts and then dropped the landy back to the ground quickly (the wheel was about 30cm off the ground). That freed it up but it's not the best way to do it.

She now sits on a set of Wheels that are all the same colour (black), took a while but we got the Wheels off eventually!

Put the Steering guard on earlier Today aswell, should be ordering a Diff guard soon :)

She's getting there, gotta Paint Her sometime soon and get the black Chequer plating on the front and attach the Snorkel..

Butch

Got the beast painted earlier, still need to do In the back but It's looking good! also got the Snorkel fitted, I'll have to get a pic up soon.. Maybe Tomorrow.

Got round to getting a few pics, need to paint the back still and attach the Black Chequer plating to the front and She also needs 2 new shocks on the back as they are absolutely shot!

I hope you all agree that It looks so much better already? :D

Only prep we done was give it a clean, didn't sand it down or anything and In real life It's not a perfect job but as It's going offroad we couldn't be f*cked spending ages rubbing it down! Main bits were done with a Roller and fiddly bits with a Brush.. ;)

Butch

Corr, that looks sweet now! Though, without sanding it down you'll probably get a lot of bubbling and peeling after not too long. Still, it's a massive improvement, the wheels look great too. :D

Yea there's quite alot of bubbling but If It does flake we'll just sand that area down and paint over again, shouldn't be that much hassle :)

Can't wait to get the Chequer plating on should transform it :D
