In my book, if you can't fix it with a hammer its an electrical fault, so hit it first! :D

ok, never having used a winch fer ages, I know very little
(oh how that saying will come back to haunt me)
but, bath it in WD40, tie it to a tree or DR E`s non running V8
the select low ratio,
get yer mrs to bash winch at said point, while feathering clutch in backwards motion while clicking solinoids clicks....;)
failing that, ask someone who really knows winches matey....:eek:
 
OP where are you ? not on your post ..
It might just be clicking because you have it wound all the way in and it wont go further , needs to go other way , but seeing as most of us on here are'nt psychic its a bit difficult to diagnose from the info you are giving !

Ok, fair point, my example was a bit flawed but you knew what I meant, the moral of the story remains...

And I still say a Land Rover can be called a truck so nerrrr nerrrr, truck truck truck truck truck ####, errr... cluck, duck, lost my self now...

If you can get the winch to work correctly, I suggest that you change the alternator to a higher output unit and fit a split charge system (one battery for the vehicle and one for the winch) The downside to a split charge is that you will lose the n/s seat base compartment.
 
Oh, by the way, the term 'Truck' was the official company label for the Truck Cab variants of the short wb and long wb Land Rover
 
If you want it looking at as your localish pop up to our pub meet in Dunstable every First Wednesday of the month (Yesterday) Next one Feb, from 7pm I'll happily have a look at the wiring and fix/advise if you really get stuck.
