New Chassis wiring loom, on top or inside ?

Hi all
I looking for advise on the best way to fit my new chassis wiring loom to the new chassis
I did think about just running it inside the chassis but im not 100% sure

So looking for pics on how you did yours please

There is various cables available to help thread them through, I think I'll just feed some string through the chassis and then pull the loom through gently

I have a fish that I have fed through the chassis but it got caught on a sharp spur of galv, and thats one i spotted
so i got thinking they maybe more, so it may be better to run the loom along the top of the chassis but im unsure of the best way to do this
 
I have also given this some thought and I am going to run mine along the top of the chassis. Have some heavy duty cable ties

Yeah, A fish is definitely the wrong tool. I use my specially trained hamster to run up the chassis with a rope tied to it's back :p

If you can't get to it, you can't repair or inspect it. Clipped to the chassis in wrapped trunking would be my choice.
 
Sorry I ruined this thread :D

When I took the loom out of my chassis it had started to wear through the wires in a couple of places. That was what made me decide. I will put it on towards the end though to try and make sure it won't get in the way of anything
 
Going to do mine this week
I thought that as the loom starts in the body and goes down to chassis and through and then out and back into the body ???

Why not run the loom through some conduit along the bottom of the body then it starts in the body, runs along the body and then to the rear lights.

Thats what I'm looking at, I will try it one day this week and let you know how it goes:)
 
Quite a few years ago we were driving along the M6 Toll road in a friends land rover, before I'd become interested in them. There was a small bang, and a noise suggesting that something was hitting the underside of the vehicle. We pulled over onto the hard shoulder to find the wiring loom wrapped around the prop shaft.

Ended up needing to be towed all the way back to Chester (after having our packed lunch on the side of the M6 toll, waiting for the recovery vehicle).

At the time, i thought "what a stupid design, having the wiring outside of the chassis", now I know it must have been a "mod", either my friend had made or a previous owner.

If you are having it outside the chassis, you need to make sure it's very well secured, otherwise you may end up needing yet another loom....

Did think about using the cat
but the hole is too small

Ran mine through the chassis, I used some stuff mains cable to push through then attached the loom to it and pulled it back

Wish the loom on my 90 was on the outside of the chassis . gotta pull it all out and find a rub . no brake lights or number plate lights and when I replaced a blown fuse the ignition came on and the fuel pump started up . bloody wiring
 
I refitted mine to the outside of the chassis when I replaced the rear cross member, seemed sensible thing to do, few cable ties sorted
