There is no Air Con light on the dash??!!??!!

You sound as if you have a serious electrical issues...

Are you positive the battery is fully charged and healthy?

Take a sniff at the under bonnet fuse box, if it smells burnt, then that could be the issue!
 
The air con lamp is on the hvac unit. I'm getting this on one of my logs

Ignore the eas fault and the aircon fault for now, they can be sorted later....and you dont have serious electrical issues...just a couple of sensor faults ... Thought you meant the dash was going crazy...

The first could inducate it is out of sync....

You'll have to find the resync process to get the Engine ECU to talk with the BeCM....search on here and read the instructions....
 
With ignition in position 2. Go to engine type EDC, Thor or Gems. Go to last page "UTILITY". Select this. Press "Security learn" diesel or "Learn security code" petrol. Switch off then on again engine should start. Told you not to play until you knew what you were doing.
 
I think I've got a flat battery now.
I don't understand any of this
Saturday all I did was reset all the fault codes and everything was fine. Saturday I used the car all day and had no problems
Sunday I didn't use her all day and today she won't start. So I don't know how I could have done anything.

Anyway I think my battery is dead now as I've done the above and it still does not work and it's a little slow on the turn over.
So I think the battery is low so I will have to get some jump cables.
My unit has different options

What is different about Diesel Security learn and Diesel Security learn? Your ECM will be set robust, can't be changed back to none robust once it is. You were not advised to press anything other than Security learn. :);)
 
There is another way of doing this if security learn does not work. Look in the "How to" section for more details. Read the security code from the engine ECM note it. Go to BECM and look what it thinks the security code is, it maybe scrambled. Delete that and enter the one noted from the ECM into BECM. Go back one page and press write settings. Engine should start.

The code is correct
My battery is definitely flat now. It's cum up with a message saying engine locked now. Will have to get some leads to give her a jump

Might be best to buy a new one then? Do I need a special battery for this thing?
A bloody big one:eek: Battery Megastore on line 130AH 1000CCA about £98 delivered. If you get it started, check your alternator is charging, 14.2/14.5 volts at 2K rpm. Also worth getting a free drain test at Halfrauds before you fork out your hard earned.
 
Charge battery before anything

Bearing in mind you said you pressed a load of buttons, it might be worth checking in the Becm/settings/options/engine - that it is set to the correct edc or edc advanced, what year is your car.

Lets not worry the poor chap needlessly as I don't think he has blindly pressed buttons!

A Range Rover with a suspect battery is not a good place to start when trying to diagnose things....

The first thing anyone should do when fault finding is have a KNOWN good battery and a decent charge from the Alternator...then go from there.
 
It's a 1999 she's an old one. I don't mind buying a new battery

It it worth buying a cheap one or an expensive one

I've just seen on in halfords for £175
