Nanocom Results / Rough Starting

If let's say the ECT sensor is reading higher at low temps the ECU will not start the glow plugs post heat operation, that's another chance but it can't be checked now as it's not cold anymore...watch through your logs, can you find at least one where the ECT is below 20*C

Most of the logs the coolant temp will be below 20. Perhaps it’s worth replacing the ect sender, they’re not that expensive.

No need to replace it if it shows very close to the ambient temp after it stood over night and the post heat-operation is stopped only above 20*C

I also replaced (eventually) the alternator with a new Denso unit - the Nanocom readings of the battery voltage (and possibly other readings) are still up and down

Old thread but you heave EXACTLY the same issue I have! Did you ever get to the bottom of it?

I have had a new cylinder head, rebuilt injectors, multiple sensors, new pump, filter and housing, new injector loom etc etc.

I thought I had a break through, I adjusted the timing via the cam, it has three bolts and a small amount of adjustment.

Next cold start was perfect!

Now it seems to have come back, after about 200+ miles and multiple trips?

It went in with a suspected injector seal issue and has never been right since, months and months (circa 4K, don’t ask...... )

Kind regards

Al

In short, no. I have decided to put up with it I also found other people with similar issues and they too just put up with it. This time of year it is not a problem it's just in the cold weather, in the cold weather if I let it idle for 10-20 seconds there is no rough running. The only thing I have not replaced is the main engine loom (I have it just not got around to it), fuel temp sensor, coolant temp sensor. I did read about someone who had a similar issue and they replaced their fuel temp sensor and all was well again, I have tried this yet but I cannot see how this would make such a difference, especially as my fuel temp readings are normal. I did compression tests but at the time I could only do this via the glow plugs so only 4 cylinders could be tested - these were normal though.

This is the only issue I have with my engine and since it started I have since had a Storm Stage 2 remap, a Stage 3 remap and added a VNT with map to match. I think if there was something physically wrong with the engine then it would have become more apparent by now, especially as it's kicking out 230-250bhp and running a 1.7 bar map.
