Ok Heres a tricky one

2001 2.5 turbo diesel

At about 55-60 mph my passenger seat starts to oscillate and wobble.

Which leads me to believe that something is out of balance........

Does anyone have any suggestions?

What does that actually mean Dave, I know they are desperately in need of lubrication, would that help.

Or do I replace them

Dave means you need to change them before they come off and change the underside of your RR to a mess of twisted metal lol. Well worth changing mate.

Answered your own question.
Dry UJs are liable to self-destruct so you're lucky to have spotted the warning signs.
Get them changed as soon as possible.
 
Oh ****e........does that mean I've damaged the prop shafts if there is play? would lubrication help or should I stop driving it till I replace them?
 
Generally the splicer wears in the cup and if left long enough will start to wear the yoke and then kaboom a nice new look to the underside.

It's best to get them changed asap can be done with some sockets and a vice to get them out and put them back in with.

I grease mine every 3 months
 
I would have a look at it pretty quick.

My front prop went on me a couple of months ago, it was only 3 days between the vibration stating and it failing completely. The problem was the sliding joint on it failed and the flailing prop took out the XYZ switch on the side of the auto box.
 
just been underneath, in neutral with the hand brake off, there doesn't seem to be any slack on the UJ's at all, just gave the prop shaft a really good push and pull, twist etc........is there a more definitive way of testing?

Put the hand brake on and jack a front wheel up to check front prop. Or scotch a front wheel and lift a rear wheel for checking rear one.

In the interest of correct terminology, they are SPICER joints not splicers. Or maybe you have fat fingers. :);)

Look for rusty stains round the yolks.
