Bought new pump and filter today, will fit on thursday hopefully...fingers crossed..will let you know.

Thanks

ok , make sure it's an orginal pump as the copy ones don't seem to last long

it will come out into a tray m if u do a quick search on here there is a few pics etc

when I done mine make sure u clean out the sedimeter , ensure all rubber o rings are intact

I put a small amount of silicone grease on the o rings so that when I reassembled it the o rings stayed in place

can get that from any plumbers shop

hope all goes well and plse let us know how u get on

I'm thinking low pressure pump failure. Then work from that to the engine.
But I would be looking at the hp regulator o ring.
Mike

Hi mike,

I bought the external pump and fuel filter (the ones under the fender) - are these what u are referring too?

The o ring where is it? This i have no clue about it.

beat me to it , lol , it was the smell of fuel that set the light bulb off

maybe allowing air to be sucked In

ahhh the O-rings in the casing...now I get it.

Yes bought original Bosch....

Brilliant let me try this!

sorry mate maybe me replying as well is confusing things , lol

stuart no problem mate, I am enjoying this, cause I really was feeling that I hit rock bottom after fighting this car for more then a week.

so stuart and mike, today I bough the low pressure one and filter i.e. those in the cradle under the rear wheel arch.

next stupid question...where is the high pressure pump located in the engine bay ?

thanks

True, but more chance of one of us getting the right answer:)
Mike

two heads better than one , lol

my thinking is as there's a smell of fuel at the back that maybe the fuel filter or pump is leaking , allowing air to be sucked in

then as the high pressure injector pump under the bonnet the fuel is arriving full of mixed fuel and air, allowing the car to start but as the revs rise due to the cavitation of air won't allow the engines injectors to get to the correct psi or revs

no probs , it's gary by the way, not that it matters, lol

you've got the pump under the rear wheel arch that sucks the fuel out of the tank that delivers the fuel to a high pressure pump under the bonnet, sits down on the left hand side front of the engine bay

it will then increase the fuel pressure to deliver it to the injectors

so if there's any leak am just thinking that maybe air is being drawn in along the line ??

at least ur not on ur own plenty of us to help

It's the regulator that has the washer it is down near the starter motor if my memory serves me correctly.
Have a read through that other thread I linked in, I believe that explains it.
Mike

that is a very good thread, showing step by step of the hp pump

quick question: how would one know if High pressure pump is not working?

and also why does the car work well, when I disconnect the maf sensor, if its a fuel pressure issue? wouldn't it work badly with or without maf? - all is baffling :)

Have you replaced the MAF?
When the MAF is unplugged, it puts the ECU into a default setting. This often cures the problem that the faulty MAF is causing.

yes I have replaced the maf,

it cured the unstable idling, but now the car wont accelerate, as you can see on the last video I posted.

if the new maf is unplugged, the car works normally.........plug it back and the car just stops reving.

and this makes me question, if the pumps are faulty wouldn't they also not work well, when the maf is disconnected?

Where did the MAF come from?
Has the car has the overlay HPFR sensor wiring added?
