blue truck cab 300tdi pretty much mint all round, shame
What I want to know is how do they find the stop solenoid isolator switch it had
and get into it and move it with the steering lock on, I have only had this truck for 2 weeks and the previous owner showed me where the special switch was, maybe I have just answered my own question?
 
I saw this on Landywatch and have shared it with the series 3, 90/110 owners club too.

I hope it’s found soon and those responsible are caught. There has been a noticeable increase in thefts in the last few weeks across the country.
 
Sorry to hear of your loss, did the car have a tracker/individual markings etc?

The problem is regardless of hidden switches, a few feet of wire and no switch is needed on the tdi models.
 
Gary, have just seen this on Landywatch - do put up a few pics on here...we have eagle eyes when it comes to Defenders. If you have doubts about the vendor, pass vendor details on to the Police. The vendor may be genuine, or, already known to the Police.

General note, never buy a car from a questionable source...walk away as there are always other cars readily available in the market. The age old words, "Caveat Emptor..."

Hi All and thank you for your posts
the previous owner did show me how to get it started, pictures of the truck are now all over the internet
so that may help,, police really not interested, the worst thing is it puts you right off,so dont feel like replacing it
wondering what they do with these stolen 90s , what do they do break them up or give them a new identity?
The lives these scum bags live is unbelievable why don't they just go get a f**king job...Tramps

Had a quick look for a 90 online last night and decent one is sat at £30k+ so that is what is fuelling this stupidity. Parts are easily stripped and there is a market for parts that have no identity :(

Pah 30k thats nothing, have a look at some of the expensive ones for sale on ebay etc, mind you they aint tdis!

Maybe they didn't start the Land Rover.

One went from near me last year, the thieves turned up in a recovery truck in broad daylight, lights flashing and everything, and just winched the Land Rover on to the back.

A few people saw it happen but nobody intervened because they thought it had broken down and was being recovered to a garage

Not unusual to see a broken down LR sadly.

Fuelled in the main by greedy owners 'trying it on', good luck to them.
 
The eggstortionate price rises started when lr sold the limited edition heritage models near the end of production. The top spec 90 being around 64,000 sovs. Owners seen it as only slightly different to their 20 year old heap so thought theirs had the same value. Their Td5 engine being betterer than the ford lump added cred to this somehow. It wasn't as it didn't have the heritage special edition factor collecters wanted. Add in lr buying back tratters 1 year old in immaculate condition for up to 10,000 sovs above list price when first sold, for special buyers, and you can see why peeps thought they'd struck gold. Main dealers had standard 90 hard tops on sale with no leffer interior for 40,000 sovs for a few years after production stopped. Talk of prices rising because of production stoping had fuelled rising asking prices in the second hand market for some years. More more eggspensive lr classic builds came after this. They're factory hand restored to original spec or rebuilt to special specs.

The problem we have with thefts i believe is down to owners being happy to buy parts second hand without question. Like the guy with 7 puma bonnets for sale in different colours with most of the doors still available. All on ebay. Engines with the serial number scratched oft regularly come up for sale. There's lot's of recondition bodywork on tratters out there so it's no surprise when one appears for sale. Thieve's have been known to change the identity and colour of tratters in a short period of time then sell them. Workshops dedicated to doing this.
 
Someone l know just sold their really nice 2005 90 XS Station Wagon on Pistonheads for £14,250
l think that's a fair price. The ones at £20,000 don't sell and keep getting relisted

been looking at Boost Alloys on fleabay..one buyer has two sets for sale with heaps of wheels clearly visible in background.. and they were cheaper than other adverts...

didnt buy.. too risky and could be someones pride and joy,,

but if we can see it why cant plod... too busy i guess
